Anyone here experienced a negative impact on fuel economy after switching to zic 10w40 diesel engine oil?

My unit uses Mobil Delvac MX 15w40 then I switched to Zic 10w40. My fuel economy dropped by approximately 1km/L.
All other things are the same, only the oil was changed.

are you talking about the Zic X7 10w40? it is one of the thicker 40weights. I don't remember the Viscosity at 100C but it was at least 14 or so.

which oil after this zic? anyways check the viscosity *100c, over14 means it will hurt the fc. my 40 weight is around 13.2-13.5

In relation to the above post, my fuel mileage also drop by 1km/li after switching to Shell Helix HX-5 15W-40 mineral oil before I was using Top 1 SDO 15W-40 semi synthetic. Is there a difference in FC using mineral or semi synthetic? Top 1 SDO now sells for Php350/Li that's why I revert to mineral oil but my FC suffers.

the better grade oils like semi synthetics and full synthetics have better additives like friction modifiers that does improve fc. but normally what affects the fc is the viscosity at 100c.

not all 40weights are the same.

Kinematic viscosity at 100C of the oils I currently/have used:
    Mitasu 5w40 is 14.22
Zic x7 10w30 is 14.8 (standard oil of Kia CACC)
Total Quartz 9000 5w30 is 11.6 (standard oil of Kia AC Ind.)
All are FS CI-4 diesel oils

    Wow! Quite surprised at this!

FWIW, there's a Gasoline and Diesel variants of the Zic X7 oil.

For the X7 Diesel, the Kinematic Viscosity at 100°C are as follows:

    5W30: 11.31
    10W30: 10.90
    10W40: 15.04

    X7 DIESEL

Mobil Delvac Mx 15w-40 has 15.5 viscosity at 100C.
Now I wonder why I get better fuel economy with Mobil than Zic....
    ....now the plot thickens......

Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?
