March 20th, 2015 12:21 AM #1Mga sir. I just want to get an idea kung how much ang general overhaul ballpark figure with parts and labor.
2007 Toyota Altis 1.6G A/T
What happened:
I just had the unit serviced at Toyota Makati for 105k PMS bale change oil/filter (semi synthetic), brake pads and serpentine belt.
Knowing na naka condition talaga yung unit i brought it to baguio pag dating sa baguio biglang umilaw yung oil indicator so i stopped at the nearest gas station to check. I shut off the engine and check the oil. Ok and level ng oil sa dip stick. When i try to start it again ayun seized na. Ayaw na umikot yung crankshaft. All other things are intact naman. Nakakapagtataka talaga.
I had the unit towed from baguio to makati and upon checking Toyota Makati saw na luto ang ibabaw sa cam shaft. But final diagnosis is yet to be given until maibaba yung engine.
My question is nasa magkano kaya aabutin ang engine overhaul?
And saan ba mas ok ipagawa? Casa parin ba or sa trusted talyer?

March 20th, 2015 12:44 AM #2dapat hindi mo na sa CASA dineretso, syempre pagbaba ng makina, bukas, kelangan may ipagawa ka na sa kanila. other wise masyadong malaki damage mo.
bakit overhaul? dapat bago pinasok sa casa inquire ka muna dito. pero okay naman feedback ng toyota makati.
hopefully hindi overhaul, pero it seems kinakalas na nila makina mo, which is overhaul na nga kakalabasan,.
sa casa mga 80k to 120k,
sa labas depende ranges from 15k to 25k, depende sa tama.

March 20th, 2015 12:58 AM #3Tama sir dapat hindi mo sa casa dinala. Probably the oil failed to circulate in the engine kya nag ilaw yung oil indicator. Kung top overhaul ng engine mga around 10k to 15k pag sa labas. 30k to 50k if full overhaul.

March 20th, 2015 05:44 AM #4to add up, mukhang hindi engine problema mo, at sana maging fair si makati. mukhang ang problema mo is defective battery or as simple as loose terminal or a damaged positive terminal dahil sa omnido (yung white particle na kumakain ng bakal sa positive terminal).
kasi AT tsikot mo, at malamang nagfail na battery mo, kaya umilaw oil indicator kasi namatay na makina mo.
ayaw magcrank dahil, wala ng karga.
ang pinakaworst case scenario mo eh, baka, again baka din may tama ang alternator, either of the four lang iyan.
Hindi ako naniniwalang overhaul, iyan at malaking katarantaduhan kung ipipilit ni casa na overhaul dahil tama naman ng OCI mo.
just had this idea kasi, i re-read your info and sabi mo okay ang oil. so meaning, walang tama makina mo. kung overhaul yan, either overheat then katok makina (worst case FULL Overhaul, sa labas mga more or less 50k, sa CASA mga 150k), or sumusuka na ng oil engine block mo (rare case, pero nangyari sa akin) kaya umilaw oil indicator (Top Overhaul and/or dukot ng CrankShaft oil seal, (15k to 25k sa labas, mga 80k to 100k sa CASA), or nagmilo oil mo dahil pinasok ng tubig (another rare case, hindi naman nangyari sa akin pero dominante sa luma at hindi sa modern engines, AFAIK, due to placement ng water jacket) full overhaul din ito, same as above.

Those engines are known for turning oil into sludge. Baka yan naging issue at nablock yung oil pump kaya bumagsak oil pressure. Baka madumi yung strainer nyan pero maari na nablock yun kaya di bumomba ng langis sa head. (though di ko sure kung strainer tawag dun) Pwede ka namang magpasecond opinion kung sakali.
May experience naman ako na ganyan dati. Ayaw magstart, at hindi mo makadyot. Hindi rin maikot manually yung crankshaft. Yun pala, naipit yung bendix drive ng starter.

March 21st, 2015 10:44 AM #7Sir,based on my experience.nagbara ang oil strainer nyan kya umilaw ang oil warning indicator light.nung bumaba oil pressure mo,nag starve sa langis ang connecting rod bearings kya huminto.ipatanggal mo ang oil pan,para makita mo ung cnasabi ko na barado ang oil strainer.d kse gaya ng ibang makina na open ang strainer,ung sa mga toyota vvti,may maliit lng na opening.para naman umikot ang crank,at ma check kung overhaul na talaga.loosen lng ng konti turnilyo ng mga conrod para bumitaw at umikot ang crank.linisin lng strainer,pati oil filter sa may vvti.lagyan mo ng ordinary motor oil.tapos start.pag d naman kumatok at d umikot ang conrod bearings nyan.no need for overhaul.post ko pictures if u want.

^agree. huwag muna baba ng makina, sa casa pa, nagsisimula na charges mo niyan. out of curiosity magkano kaya inabot nung nagpa-tow siya mula Baguio to makati?

March 20th, 2015 11:04 AM #10i had my (non-toyota) japanese sedan overhauled by my trusted mechanic, in the family garage. it cost me about 25K.
i can only cringe at what the casa will charge you for their overhaul.
and i agree with those above.. check the battery and electricals..
check the starter..
and yes, ask the casa folks for a quotation and timetable, and see if you agree.
naisip ko na lang na maybe its related to the old Nissan CVT issues... kaya siguro they released...
