    Sir Dieseldude,

    I have a 1995 A/T Pajero with 4M40 engine (Japan unit). It is about to reach 160,000 kms this year. I regularly replace my engine oil, air filter, oil filter, and fuel filter every 5000 kms. Turbo is ok, rebuilt 4 yrs ago, wala naman leaks. So far, the condition of the car is ok, one click in the morning, no idling issues, never been calibrated and replaced timing chain. Napapansin ko lang na medyo malakas na konsumo (estimate ko is 6 to 7 kms per liter) and medyo struggling on ascents and reaching 100 kph.

    Since I want to avoid future problems, I just need your professional advice regarding the ff.:

    1) Is my nozzle tips due for replacement already? Is this one of the reason for high f/c?

    2) Since my timing chain is not yet rattling, adviseable ba na palitan na to, including tensioners and sprockets?

    3) How about injection pump, would you suggest to calibrate it already kahit na wala hard starting or smoke belching (but mine emits smoke under load...3k rpms or more)? Would calibration at this mileage recommended, to improve my f/c, acceleration, etc. May isa kasing Zexel shop na nagsabi baka kinakapos ng fuel delivery yung pump kaya nahihirapan sa rekta....would you agree on this?

    4) Is it possible to test injection pump performance without taking it out of the engine?

    5) My friend said that Japan 4M40 and its rotary injection pump is slightly different from the local 4M40, ano po ba ang pagkakaiba nito? Do you have calibration data for Japan units?

    My ride was a Mitsubishi Adventure 2008 GLS Sport
    About 80k yung mileage. Since my family migrated on US eh binigay na ito sa akin ng father ko. The catch is kilala ko yung father ko na hindi maalaga sa sasakyan

    Ask ko lang po if anu ang frequency ng pagchange ng fuel filter? Need po ba na dapat isabay ito sa oil change? BTW about oil change eh yung ako na humawak ng sasakyan eh semi-synthetic na lage ko pinapaoil change which is di ko alam kung ok na ba yung mineral or fully synthetic dapat so nagstick ako sa mid nung dalawa, nasales talk ata kasi ako ng Shell station sa amin na lagi ko pinagpapachangoil.

Your engine may be starved of air. Check your air filter and turbo boost pressure first,

    advisable ba na via relay yung 12 volt feed papuntang fuel cut solenoid? plano ko lang naman lagyan ng "kill switch" ika nga nila yung circuit neto. pero kung ano abiso mo e susundin ko. salamat.....

    Meron leak ang oil.

    Baka maluwag na ang cylinder sleeves or tapered na ang bore ng sleeves. Nagpalit ka ba nito?

    Baka maluwag din ang piston rings sa ring grooves ng piston.

    Hindi naman makakasama sa makina ang binabalak mo.

    Pero bakit mo gustong lagyan ng kill switch? Meron ka naman ignition/start switch.

    1997 Hilux 2L engine. 347xxx kms. 5k kms oil change interval. laging bosch oil at fuel filter. every 5k kms linis ng air filter, every 30k kms naman ang palit (replacement)

    napapansin ko sir kapag under load or kapag mag aaccelerate ako, may buga ng black smoke, kapag Euro4 diesel ang gamit ko, less smoke lang pero meron pa din.

    kunyari sir, sa highway, constant 90kph walang black smoke, kapag mag oovertake ako from 90kph to 100kph, may buga na, pero kapag nag constant 90kph or 100 kph or any speed, wala naman usok.

    ano po kaya kailangang i-check? matipid naman sa diesel, wala din oil consumption.

    kailangan ko na kayang magpa check ng injectors? ok naman sir yung acceleration at idling niya, may konting usok lang kapag aarangkada.

    Sa palagay ko normal lang yung konting smoke during acceleration dahil Euro 2 ang engine mo. Mas malinis talaga ang emissions ng mga modelong engines.

    Pwede mabawasan ng smoke yung 2L engine mo through pump calibration. Magkakaroon ng slight improvement ang fuel consumption mo, pero mababawasan ka ng konting torque.
