just recently, my 4d56 turbodiesel cuts out when accelerated suddenly or when revved constantly at high rpm.....ang nangyari is below empty na yung gage, kinargahan ko 2T (about 50 ml) then drive 10 km to the gas station. tried to overtake then engine suddenly cuts out. suspected it was air in the lines (due to low fuel level), but after filling up the tank still cuts out at sudden acceleration and constant high rpms about 3-5 times on our trip dito sa province. been a user of 2T months before fyi.

changed my fuel filter last october at napansin ko days after the filter change e nagjejerk ang engine when throttle is released suddenly from a high rpm but doesn't jerk if throttle is released relatively slow.

observed too that the engine feels a little sluggish.

is this a simple air entering the fuel system problem? i hope that the injection pump won't give up the ghost yet,

would a soft hose connecting the tank to the water separator-filter assembly contribute to the problem?

    thanks in advance dude!!!!
Have you sorted this out? If not, the following might help...

I too experienced stalling with my Adventure (also 4D56). I started to notice that it barely reaches 100KpH on the expressways, whereas it could reach 140KpH before. Nawalan ng rekta pero may hatak pa rin naman. DD advised checking throttle cable and changing fuel filter. Cable adjustment was fine. Changed fuel filter.

It was then that I experienced stalling. Lumala ang problema. Found out later that it was something I did earlier that caused it.

Mechanic 1 thought air was getting into the lines and suggested changing the priming pump. The solution was thankfully simpler and less expensive. Mechanic 2 suspected clogged lines. We pulled down the tank and cleaned it. Strainer had some sand (?) in it. Also removed a small strainer/filter in the injection pump located in the "in" line where fuel enters the pump. It's small and made of wire mesh. Cleaned it with thinner and compressed air. After we put everything back, she was back to her old self. Parang nagdahilan lang.

Like you, I also let the fuel level get tool low - up to the point where the warning light stays on. Maybe your pump sucked up dirt and got clogged.

Thanks for posting your fix. This can help other Tsikoters who have a similar problem

nasort out na dude....after the filter change, i changed also the fuel hoses (suction, feed, return). it was a loose clamp holding the return hose to injection pump. plus a timing belt and tensioner replacement too. so far so good.

    Sir dieseldude,

good day po!

    Salamat po and God bless.

Hindi ko pa nasubukan ang 2T oil.
Pero dapat malaman mo ang ideal mix kung gusto mong subukan.

    Hey Dieseldude,

I have a '96 local landcruiser 1hd-t engine, and its already 437000 km. I got it from my dad in the province and as far as I know the injectors have never been serviced before.

I'm thinking of having the injectors cleaned since its been that long already but I'm not sure if it really needs it. The power seems good and the only problem I've had was that I have to halfway press the accelerator whenever I start the engine or else it'll have a hard time starting. Should I have it cleaned nonetheless or "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies?

Thanks and btw, how much do you charge for 1hd-t injector cleaning? Thanks :D
