    hi, dieseldude

i have a pajero 97, at start when you use it it's running fine till when you're going on an inclined road like going to tagaytay, i feel that the engine is losing power and dark smoke apprears from the exhaust......

needs to shift to a lower gear.......

the air filter is clean, is there something needs to be checked or adjusted....

    thanks....

Slight smoke and some power loss is quite normal when going to Tagaytay as this is an uphill road. Air density is also thinner due to the higher altitude. Excessive smoke is abnormal.

You do have to shift to a lower gear....

the air filter is clean, is there something needs to be checked or adjusted.
If you feel that the situation is not normal, EGR and/or turbo boost can be checked....

    thanks....

it's strange to loose power, other cars and vehicles are passing me way ahead.

i have to shift cause even at 3rd gear it's even loosing power quite not normal.....

    where is that located?

according to a service mechanic i've asked i might have to re-calibrate the diesel injection pump.......

will re-calibrating it fix the low power and smoke on an uphill road and give power back?

    Happy New Year!!!

I recently had my fuel system serviced: cleaned intake manifold, replaced air filter, cleaned injectors and replaced some seals of the injector pump.

The result: very clear exhaust... however, the vehicle seems to be losing power. can't climb a steep incline unlike before. when in a flat road, there is no problem as the van can manage high speeds with this. yung torque or pull factor ang kulang.

when in neutral the rpm is at about 1000rpm (quite high, normal is around), when gear is in Drive, rpm goes down to about 6500.

what seems to be the problem here? is it lacking diesel, but why is the rpm high when neutral if its lacking diesel?

    would greatly appreciate your inputs

maybe they messed with the governor? I have seen many "diesel calibration shops" do this without basis. most of them just drop the setting and even drop the idle screw...

I have shared my painful experience on this, leading to an a/t disaster...

I recently had my fuel system serviced: cleaned intake manifold, replaced air filter, cleaned injectors and replaced some seals of the injector pump. Why did you have the fuel injection system serviced? And what is the make and model of your car?

what seems to be the problem here? is it lacking diesel, but why is the rpm high when neutral if its lacking diesel? Pump / injectors may not be calibrated to specs...

would greatly appreciate your inputs. Claim warranty from the workshop who previously serviced your system. This is your best option. They should also be able show you the test specifications for your particular pump and injectors.

Calibration is basically adjusting the system to conform to factory-issued test specification. Without this info, everything becomes guesswork.
