Oil Base Stocks

Oil base stocks are divided into five general categories, as defined by the American Petroleum Institute (API):
Group I - Conventional - Mineral oil derived from crude oil
Group II - Hydroprocessed - Highly refined mineral oil
Group III – Severe hydroprocessed
Group IV – Polyalphaolefins (PAO)
Group V - Other base stocks not included in Group I, II, III, or IV (e.g. ester-based oil )

question po, kung pangit or hindi compatible yung engine oil na nailagay sa makina, mararamdaman ba instantly ang effect ito?

after ng 10k pms kasi ng pick up ko (changed oil and oil filter, cleaned air filter element, nothing else), ang laki ng binaba ng performance, sa feeling gauge lang, pero i am driving only this pick up so i have a strong feel of how it runs before the change oil and ang tamlay manakbo after the pms.
hindi naman mausok.

my unit: 2013 2.2 ranger xlt m/t
engine oil they (casa) used: 8 liters castrol 5w-30 (daw), came from a drum daw since hinihingi ko yung container, sabi sa drum daw galing.

Could be they used mineral oil, there's a big difference in performance when you change from full synthetic to mineral oil.

hello sir, 5w-30 is malabnaw na nga for a diesel engine, dapat mas magaan ang pakiramdam ng makina mo kung wala naman ibang problema. As far as I know, I also have a diesel engine SUV, originally from casa oil na 15w-50, i shifted to 15w-40 which is also recommended from the car's manual, ramdam agad yung pino ng andar ng makina and very smooth ang acceleration and pulling power. Check mo na lang yung car's manual mo and maybe have it checked by your casa dealer....JM2C

went to true value ATC yesterday and looked around for synthetic oils...how would you know kung totoong synthetic oil? I mean iba-iba nakasulat eh, meron 100% synthetic, yun iba fully synthetic, yun iba naman synthetic lang nakasulat...

so among those na nabanggit ko ano yun totoong synthetic dyan? kasi I assumed na dapat 100% synthetic ang "real" synthetic...tama ba ako?

for sure the most expensive will likely lead you to the right direction

a fuel economy benefit whilst maintaining the durability of your engine.
Engine oil - Diesel (for markets with low sulphur content less than 350 ppm): If
you are unable to find an oil that meets the specification defined by WSS-M2C913-C,
you must use SAE 5W-30 (preferred), SAE 5W-40 or SAE 10W-40 that meets the
specification defined by either ACEA A5/B5 (preferred) or ACEA A3/B3.

kung low sulphur content ang diesel na gagamitin, preferred ang 5w30,
kung high sulphur content and diesel na gagamitin, preferred and 10w30...

i guess they should used a 10w30 engine oil? at dapat full synthetic since change oil interval is every 10kms...

baka nga mineral oil nilagay? kaya pangit andar ng makina ko.

btw, i checked the oil dipstick and oil is a little above max level (cold engine / leveled parking), kung ibase natin dito nasubrahan pala nila oil kahit 8 liters lang nilagay (8.6 liters as per manual), double check ko level later. hopefully my problem is just overfilled engine oil.

confirmed, it was too much engine oil. hindi dahil sobra ang refill, kundi dahil kulang ang pagdrain sa initial oil... we had to drain around 1.3 liters of the oil to put the engine oil level below the max mark of the dipstick... new oil was already black in color after just around 150km.

Kumusta na hatak? Bumalik na sa dati? Kung kulang ang pagdrain sa old engine oil mo, mukhang minamadali nila ang trabaho nila.

Sir falken. Sorry for the late response. After nagbawas ako ng engine oil balik to normal performance. Ok na...

My problem now is, They did it again! Even after requesting the service advisor to fill the engine up to 3/4 of the dipstick min-max mark. Same symptoms reappeared I.e hirap tumaas ang rev after 2.5k rpm and oil reach above max marking on dip stick.

Will go to a near shop to drain some engine oil.
