^Mas bugbog ang battery sa gas kasi spark ignition requires battery charge. When your alternator fails the spark plugs can only depend on the RC (reserved current) of the battery to keep running. RC is measured in minutes, that means after the alternator failed to supply the battery the battery have only that much time to keep on supplying electric charge to the spark plug. After which the engine will seize to operate, so its important to note the RC specification of the battery installed in your car. Turning off the entertainment system will help in this scenario
Diesel utilizes compression ignition that does not require battery charge. You can keep a diesel engine running without a battery, only after push starting it ofcourse for manual or jump starting it with another car for automatic. In the event the alternator fails, the engine will just keep on running. The only thing the RC could be useful for is your entertainment
We can only prolong the life of a battery by keeping the cells wet, we cant restore it back to its original glory as acids deteriorate the metalic component of every battery
