April 17th, 2010 10:18 AM #11i'm an owner of 2004 1.6 optra M/T. but i have a different experience on my car and i am happy with it. I'm wondering why some consume 5 or 6kms/L fuel. some says after a year fuel pump deffects... i am now on my 87k mileage, i've change my fuel pump, water pump, timing belt set, axle both, rack end, overhauled my AC system+ change air compressor for the past 8 mos... my consumption in city driving/traffic is 8kms/L with uphill and everyday from antipolo to qc. and i'm not planning to change it with any japanese cars...
there are many things to consider in a cars fuel consumption. all of the car's system must be running properly. one example is its engine's timing which also on some cases makes your engine turn off and also makes your fuel consumption go high. also, when your fpump is nearly for change, fuel also consumes more+hard starting... etc.
i'm maintaining my optra cuz it fits my driving needs & comfort. i've driven many japanese cars too when i was abroad, all of them. but i find chevy better in my own experience...

i've change my fuel pump, water pump, timing belt set, axle both, rack end, overhauled my AC system+ change air compressor for the past 8 mos...

kulang naman pambili ng maski 97 lancer and nagasta ko, tsaka maski sumobra pa mas pipiliin ko pa rin ang optra kaysa sa ibang 2nd hand cars. and besides, there's a lot of ways to make your maintenance cheaper, just source it out. (ex is the rack end, its around 35k GM parts na me makikita na naman japan made replacement, kunin mo lang yung tamang sukat na mabibili mo lang ng 6-7k. same as the air compressor, sa casa its 38k, sa supplier its 14k lang).

April 19th, 2010 11:32 AM #17it was 78k ng magpalit ako ng fpump (still running but hard starting na)
kaya dapat you need to prepare for these if your planning to keep your optra.

Iyong resale value mukhang mababa.
