    Here's the thing.

    1. you can believe the sales reps and their promises.

    or

    2. you can read up on the real world experiences of Chevy Cruze owners (which are often opposite of what the sales reps promised).

In the end, it is up to you to choose whom to believe.

yeah, that bothers me, i love the car..not sure if i'll be loved by Chevy after i buy it. but i do like it alot.

-I test drove the Mitsu GLS EX a/t today too..hated the dash area (kinda boring up in the front seats actually).. ride was good.. smooth.. acceleration also ok but i was expecting more power out of the 2.0 liter engine..probably due to the fact that it was an a/t?
-Test drove the mazda 2 a/t hatch(but interested in the sedan), felt very spitty for a little car.I felt "one" with the car. We tried sitting 3 in the back seat, elbow to elbow and very uncomfortable
-Test drove the Fiesta Sport. Very smooth and quiet..barely heard the engine start. I think the voice activation could get annoying after some years. was doing 80kph on the test drive and didn't even feel like it problem with the car was it was too small for us we couldn't agree on it.
-still have to test drive the Honda City..... a family member of mine didn't like the jazz so it had to be thrown out of the runnings. Very spacious interior in the jazz..i was surprised. back seats though reminded me of the 3rd row seats that are installed in vans..the uncomfortable thin ones.

as for the cruze..i liked the features up front, smooth drive, interior space, trunk space, sound system and exterior looks. The only things i noticed that caught me off guard was that the acceleration seems to have a lag/delay when i press down on the gas, and it feels kinda mushy..like i have to press down a lil bit more to get a response that i want unlike the other cars i tested out where the response was right there when i needed it.

The smoothness of the CVT might make it seem to have less power. CVT tranny is different in the way it accelerates as compared to traditional AT.

You can either floor the accelerator or shift to manual shift mode.

I'm about 80% sure I'm going to get the cruise..and i fell in love with it. but I have a few questions that maybe you guys can help me out with.

    1. How's the customer car with Chevy Westgate Alabang after buying the car?
    2. When getting my checkups with the car, changeoil, and things like that..is it really that expensive? i just remember seeing on here that it cost like 8k for a changeoil???

I'm very worried about the costs of the maintenance services at the CASA while under warranty.
    Thanks guys!
Good questions sir. Service in Chevrolet Alabang is at par with the other brands in the area. There are two service Advisors receiving 14 units a day. This is below the minimum required by industry standard of 8 customer per SA per day. You can be well accommodated. I advice making an appointment call prior to your service so you can be prioritized within the day. Make the appointment at least one day ahead.

You can print the PMS schedule I posted here. That is the manufacturer required Preventive Maintenance Schedule. You don't have to worry as this vehicle is designed for low maintenance cost.

You may want to check the content of Chevy Pasig's FREE 2 years PMS and FREE 5 years service diagnosis (includes computer diagnosis).

You may believe a ghost or my commitment here sir

Manual mode was fun I'd probably change up the interior though like you did with yours.
Sales Agent didnt know what he was talking about..told me it was only 5 speed while i was messing around with the "+" and "-" shifter and found out there was 8. He also said that you'd get 12-14 city driving..wehhh?? Just for added information..may I know your fuel consumption for pure city driving? We do lots of city driving. Cavite/las Pinas area on weekdays, wekeends is when we do our highway driving.

As for the Cruze.. i liked the sound system a lot. I brought my own Flash USB to initially play it in the Fiesta..but we couldn't do the right voice command to play it. Tried it in the cruze and wow blew me away..nice midbass. just needs a subwoofer

Soon to be a very proud Chevrolet Cruze LS A/T owner...

I believe the reason for the sluggish nature of the car from stop is that it stays too long at 1st gear. Use the manual mode. You can immediately shift to 2nd once the car starts moving. I wish they can re-program the A/T. This is also the reason why the car guzzles gas during traffic. IMHO.

Ako naman, ilang months kong binabasa ang Lancer EX & Cruze thread to get the inputs from both cars. More than 2 weeks ago, I was decided that day to check both Lancer EX and Cruze (magkalapit lang kasi sila sa C5), pero I ended up with Cruze and I'm very happy with it. Super Red LS A/T rin ako by the way
Kahapon may 2 Cruze na magkatabi sa Megamall (Super Red & Metallic Gray), sayang at wala nang space, tatabi rin sana ako

Our concern right now siguro ay ganito:

    1. bago pa lang ang mga cruze natin kaya wala pang masyadong problema.

    2. the 1st PMS is at 10K kaya iilan pa lang sa atin ang nakapag PMS, except for those who had their cruze checked at 1K or 5K wherein they have to pay since hindi covered sa free PMS.

    3. there is really a problem with regards to the 'lamig' ng aircon compared to japanese cars na kahit nasa #1 lang ay malamig na. Sabi nila dahil "american car" ito kaya siguro hindi ganun kalamig ang aircon.

If Chevy Philippines can do something about it - to improve the coolness inside the cabin - it will be well appreciated (paging our friend Mr. Awallit), instead of us (cruze owners) to shell out some cash to have it covered with foam tube and alluminum tape).

    4. I have already requested Mr. Awallit to inform their big bosses to have a uniform pricing for parts and labor sa lahat ng kanilang dealers para kung saan tayo malapit doon na lang tayo without having to worry kung tinataga tayo. At para makasigurado, someone suggested to request for a quotation 1st from different service stations para we will know kung anong dealer ang tumataga compared to other service stations.

Malapit na rin ako sa 10K PMS ko and am looking-forward to a trouble-free one.

May catch yan bro..... May clause na "WHICHEVER COMES FIRST" kaya kung ang binigay sa iyo na promo ay 2 years then kung alin sa dalawa ang mauna.

Hi KrisKros, allow me some humor, your name says where yours/my thinking is about this Cruze.

The car is exceptionally refined, smooth, quiet , spacious and comfortable, nearly as good as a luxury car costing PHp 700k more. But as Ghosthunter has repeatedly reminded readers here, the after sales service quality is the risk. Let me add, the resulting cost that might be the low resale value if many first time owners are not satisfied. This is the one singe reason that stops me from buying this car, if that concern remains, I may just buy this 2nd hand a year from now when if as some people say, the car will sell for cheap. Regardless of service issues, the car is clearly a cut above the rest if its key features matter to you. However buying 2nd hand is also risky, the car may need potentially expensive repairs etc. So you may prefer a new one for more peace of mind.

I have road tested the Cruze 3x, today I realized more clearly that the car is indeed a level up higher than an Altis, Civic or Lancer IF refinement is what matters to you. So, first you need to decide what features/benefits matter most. The Civic is known for engine/drivetrain performance, razor sharp response, excellent fuel economy vis a vis power performance. The Lancer has great handling, decent power, quite a noisy engine, the Altis probably as expected carries he crown for reliability, durability and after sales service quality. A well respected automotive journalist said, the Cruze is what the Altis could have been....now if only Chevy today had the reputation of a Toyota hehe.

Back to driving experience, I realize, the critics who complain about the slow throttle response, not so smooth engine at high RPM have reason to say this. BUT, how important is this to you, how often is it that few seconds matters to you? How big a difference in response, acceleration is material? My road test shows me, the response is partly dependent on driving technique, the Cruze much like other GM Europe cars (Opel etc.) does NOT like you to "mash" the gas pedal, step on the gas progressiveily giving the computer time to respond and it does adequately. My Opel cars are the same, I suspect the lag is to keep pollution emissions down. I was zipping through C5 today, quite fluidly, effortlessly enjoying the stable chassis, decent steering, it just needs a progressive foot on the gas, just the right knudge on the gas pedal to prompt a downshifit, feel the "rythm" of the tranny and engine as you step and release the pedal and you will be rewarded with decent acceleration and response. You cannot be hamfisted with this car the way I have read you can be in the Lancer EX. Once you get the hang of it, the car will satisfy you. Same technique with the shiftronic, step on the gas lightly as you downshift to match engine speed to transmission/car road speed and you will get smooth downshifts/handling...really quite a great car.

There are a few niggles mentioned in this thread about noisy brakes when backing up, airconditioning that some say is sometimes too cold, sometimes warm. I say, much of this is lack of understanding about the design philosophy of GM Europe/Opel etc. No car is perfect, the car I drove had nearly 10TKms run and had some slight "rattles" from interior plastic panel that had come loose, quite annoying but easily fixed IF the mechanics are competent. On 2 units, I noted some slight "wiggle" on mild acceleration from a stop, seemed like driveline vibration, time will tell if this worsens as the cars rack up mileage. I used to fix cars for nearly ten years a few decades ago, this is where my observations come from. IF you are serious about buying the cars, compare not only PMS costs, ask about spare parts costs for major parts like: aircon compressor, brake discs, automatic transmission repairs, computer box, power steering electic motors, alternators etc. These are major items that cost a lot if repaired out of warranty. Euro cars are often not as reliable in these car components. If such parts are considred "not repairable" beware it can cost you a lot. The big question is, how likely is it these parts will fail, I observe that Japanese cars are more reliable in this case. And if they do break down, the chance is greater you will find repair kits or surplus parts than have to throw out the entire part an buy brand new.

Only time will tell about how serious Chevy is with matching Toyota's service quality, product durability and running costs. This car setting aside after sales quality and costs and resale value risks can be a great value. If Chevy were "brave enough" it should match Hyundai's 5 year warranty....hehe.

Actually, just adding PHP360K to the price tag of the Cruze LT would get you a car with good refinement, smooth, quiet, spacious and comfy luxury car. That car comes in the shape of Hyundai's Sonata at PHP 1.36M for the base model. And it is quick with it's 2.4L engine producing 178hp.

A great looking car that has a 5 year or 100,000km warranty. (What was Chevy's warranty again? 2 years, was it?)

My only beef against the Hyundai Sonata is the ugly plastic backs of the front seats...

A Toyota Camry would cost you around PHP100k more than the Sonata. Driving the Camry, you can't help but feel the car has gotten old and the interior does feel very dated especially when compared to other cars available today of the same class.
