12 years and counting on my current job. lasted 5 years in my first. i guess i just don't like jumping around that much.

Unless maganda talaga yung kumpanya, salary increases become rare and grow less compared to when you initially joined -- not sure why, in my mind "veteran" staff can do more work than newbies na kakapa kapa pa. i guess mas ayaw ng ibang companies na magretain ng matatanda 'coz of "maintenance costs" -- retirement, longevity pay, etc.

Problem is, wala siya tuloy nakukuhang medical, pension/retirement, etc. Tsaka pangit tignan sa resume.

3 years was my longest tenure in a company.

7 companies in 12 years of being an employee.

Opted to start on my own, running 2 years now, doing good, getting better.

1st job 7 months, local aircon company
2nd job 5 months, local computer sales (palipas oras while waiting for visa).
3rd job 10 months, saudi, engineering maintenance. Kanila na lang, vowed never to return.
4th job, 16 years, oil drilling, US company. I learned a lot.
5th job, 2 years 3 months, oil drilling, US company, they doubled my salary but they folded up during the downturn in 2008-09.
6th job, 1 year, jap-qatari company, lower pay than job#5. Down ang industry e no choice.
7th job, 3 years and counting, US company. I like it here, maybe this is where i will retire. Isa lang problema ko dito, pinagiisipan ko pa kung paano ko siya lalasunin ng hindi ako makukulong.

IMO bro.,- that is a bad practice....

The institution should encash unused VLs and SLs every end of the year, so that the employee is being paid for what he's/she's worth during that term.

Arguably,- rather than paying 400+ VLs and SLs years later, when the employee is already earning 10X (for example) of his old salary....

7 years now. My second job I don't have my great colleagues anymore but I still have the same great boss

I had a conversation with my boss today and he told me he depends on me too much for some tasks, so what happens if I leave, I said I will stay as long as I am under him. He asked me what happens when he retires *silence* And we both said, that is still a long time
