During out of town trips, I always drive with my headlights turned on (low beam). Serves the purpose of a DRL, IMHO. I would not retro-fit DRL kits on my non-DRL cars though. If Im lucky enough to own a DRL equipped vehicle in the future, (euro lang please) then its a plus.

Has anyone here noticed of late, those Victory buses plying the northern routes, they also run with their lights on.

That has been their practice (I think SOP) for some years already, bro. Ayos, di ba?

I have it in my car and it's a retrofit. When I turn ON my engine, it's ON na rin. Pag nag park lights ako it automatically turns OFF coz I dont need it. It also placed properly apart and the height of the DRL from the ground is also within specs ng DRL sa Europe.

Tayong mga Noypi we really like personalizing our car. Also our car is the 2nd most expensive investment for us if we have a house already so kung wala pang house then it becomes our most expensive purchase. Nothing wrong with personalizing it BUT as we practice our rights and privileges, we should be responsible enough not to, in any way negatively affect the rights and privileges of other motorists.

So I am for DRL if installed properly and it's not causing any safety issues with other motorists. If turning ON your headlamps is ok with you, that's also perfect! Wala nga naman bayad yun, hehe.

Yup, it really helps lalo na sa Marcos highway! Kudos on their management for this practical safety measure.

i don't like the aftermarket ones...though pwede if mai hugis sya dun sa mukang vents part ng bumper ko parang mercedes type na drl? yun. pwede pa. or park lights with hp led, sa crv.

though i always have my hl and fogs on with the crv, minsan fogs lang. pag tirik na araw, patay na. same with my mitsu spacewagon, naka on lagi hl ko pero naka low beam hindi high.

For aftermarket ones, if it looks ok, ok lang. Pero ako kasi i just turn on my fogs kaya di ko kailangan ng drl. Pag tirik araw no need. Pero pag salubungan like shadow, fogs on din ako

I've seen monteros with DRLs on their lower grill.

Yun palang ata na gustohan ko kotse with aftermarket DRLs.

Yung sa new CRV na high beam on lower power parang mejo nakaka distract.

I'm still a fence-sitter on this. If we're talking about applying the concept here (PH), I personally think it's unnecessary. We don't get much inclement weather to justify its use, IMO. On any good day, it just serves to add glare to our already cluttered and chaotic streets.

Also, a study by the NHTSA (US) even suggests that the use of DRLs may even obscure or mask out relatively smaller road users like motorcycles, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

The analysis found that DRLs have no statistically significant overall effect on the three target crashes. When combining these three target crashes into one target crash, the DRL effects were also not statistically significant. When examined separately for passenger cars and light trucks / van (LTVs) , DRLs in LTVs significantly reduced LTVs' involvement in the target two vehicle by 5.7 percent. However, the remaining DRL effects on these three target crashes were not statistically significant. Although not statistically significant, DRLs might have unintended consequences for pedestrians and motorcycles. Particularly, the estimated negative effects for LTV's were relatively large and cannot be completely ignored.

I have a dark colored car and I think installing DRL would be beneficial for my safety.
