Nasubukan ko na po kasi yung g5 na bolt on and hindi ako satisfied kaya i went the retrofit way... And talagang very useful sa driving.
he's talking about aftermarket projector headlights, yun palit buong assembly, which has bad output compared to the bolt on projectors that you are saying.

I think of most of the aftermarket projector headlights are so bad, mas malakas pa output ng stock reflector headlights.

But based sa experience ko, its either retrofit or halogen... Opinion lang.. Hehehe...

it would be up to you sir kung retrofit o yang bolt on ehadlight assembly...
pero IMO and based from experience, malayo ang performance and safety na mabibigay ng retrofit...

hello po sa lahat! bago ko lang nalaman na mali pala yung pag ugrade ko to hid kit since i need a projector headlight pala. I have a hilux 2009. Magagamit ko pa ba yung hid kit ko na nabili if projector headlight nalng ang bilihin ko? or mas better if pa retrofit nalang? thanks po sa inyong tulong.

Yes sir, sa Q5, maganda na talaga output nyan, for the 15k price sulit siya sir, pag na upgrade nyo yan with the retrofit, im sure hindi na talaga kayo babalik sa halogen.... Very safe and very good ang light output and dimensions...

I did my own retrofit sa eve namin... I bought my Q5 from sir ginnova, and did the mods my self, natuwa talaga ako with the output... Wide and long light output. You can really never go wrong with projectors..

i also preferred the thick ballasts... bulky nga lang pero parang mas tatagal sila eh... more space to dissipate heat...

the only reason why thick ballasts are thick is because the ignitor is housed together with the main body of the ballasts. Thin ballasts have ignitors mounted separately. A good quality ballast, either thick or thin will last a long time and have a low failure rate.

How about sir gary yung slim digital ballast? Same ba yun sa slim type lang? How about yung fluctuation? Thanks sir gary

before 2 set ang ballast meron ako, 1 pair is china na 55 watt ballast slim type...

after a couple of weeks, meh konting flickering sa start up... so pinalitan ko na lang agad..
2 pairrs thick ballast na nagamit ko before and hindi naman nagloko yung mga ballast so far..

pero siyempre as time goes by, there will improvements in terms of quality of the capacitors and other components inside the ballast

pero na observe ko even the OEM ones like Denso, matsushita, even the morimotos are thick in construction unlike the more common china type slim ballasts.. though denso calls their ballast slim pero parang malaki pa din eh..

Definitely not. Iba ang HID projectors sa HALOGEN projectors. It will have a better cut off than ordinary reflector bowls, pero it won't have the same output as what you see on garyq's threads as the ones you have are made for halogens only not HIDs

but will the hid/ halogen projector combo be better in terms of light output than the original halogen projector ?

I highly doubt sir... Kasi if your projectors are designed for halogen bulb pag nag hid ka, mas magmumukang intense lang yung color,, medyo scientific lang, pero iba kasi ang focal point ng halogen bulb versus sa hid bulb, therfore hindi mo talaga ma compare it to retrofit which specifically are made to utilize and maximize the light from the hid bulb...

Pero yung light throw etc., can't compare with HID on HID projectors.
