Bolt-on bi-xenon projectors

ano po bang saktong sakto na bolt-on bi-xenon na kakasya sa FOG ng mitsu strada? salamat po....palitan ko sana ang FOGS ng hid na naka projector..wala kasing projector headlight ng strada eh..

Thanks Miko. Maganda nga ang output. Gusto ko din iDIY yung sa car ko pero wala akong heat gun or oven. Iniisip ko ipabukas na lang at iuwi tapos ay ipaheat ulit pag isasara na yung lens ng HL. Kaso mukhang hassle at daily drive ko pa naman kaya di pwede ang mahabang downtime sa kanya.

Meron ka pa bang Q5 projector na pwedeng ioffload dyan? Medyo weird yung pricing ng northcustoms sa Q5. Mas mahal pa sa FX-R kahit na bolt on sya at mas mafali iinstall.
Dito din ata sa Q5 nakabase yung matagal ng inaantay na MMD2S 3.0 ng TRS.

Sorry for this Noob question, same lang ba ang mga HiD bulb ng wattage rating? and yung ballast ba ang basis ng 55w ng rating or output ng Hid? Alam ko lang kasi 55W yung ballast ko pero yung Bulb I dont know if 35 or 55w...

Easy to know if you have a reference bulb. 45/55W aftermarket bulbs have thicker tubes thus larger bulb diameter. for a mini h1 , the 45/55W bulbs won't actually fit/insert into the projector. some sanding is needed on the projector is needed for it to fit.

basically yung lumens ng light output eh determined by the ballast... 35 watts is the regular wattage... 55 watts produces more amperage and in a way boost the existing bulbs output... 55 watts generate more heat and shortens bulb life to a certain degree.

35watt (4300K bulb) + 35watt ballast= 3400 lumens
35watt (4300K bulb) + 55watt ballast= 5000 lumens

there are bulbs though with thicker electrodes and stronger glass that can retain color and lifespan even with 55 watt ballast that drive them up...

Kapag may nakita ako ng 1.5k na black and decker na yan sa ibang store bibili na ko.

Sale nung binili ko sya last year, i guess stocks ran out din pala. If one tims mo lang gamitin, try mo yung jafake sa quiapo . I think pede na yun wag lang for professional use..

The right most pair of projectors ( bottom pic ) is actually a 3inch D2S with curved cut-off shield. Very sharp cut-off. I have a last pair of Q5 but with short tail and might use it sa fogs.

Yung short tail ba ay hindi uubra sa H4 mounting? May enough thread ba sya to mount the bulb holder? May nakikita din ako na iba yung tail nya parang square. Ito ba yung hindi bolt on type at replica talaga ng Q5?

Sir Ginnova, I checked the clearance of the HL with respect to the bezel and it is only exactly 80mm. The diameter of the lens holder of a bare Q5 is also 80mm.
Looks like I'm out of luck with projectors using 3" lenses unless I do major trimmings on the shroud and/or reflector bowl or wala ng shroud and just cover the opening between the lens and bowl.
I guess I'll just have to settle with the MMH1 6.0 for bolt on installation.

Sir shok, I also own a toyota corolla lovelife and was inspired by this bolt on thread to perform a diy on my car headlights. At first medyo nag aalangan ako with Q5 dahil sa size ng headlight kaso maganda kasi feedback kaya itinuloy ko pa din. I sourced my projectors directly from china and bought a pair of 3 inch Q5 projectors and pair of 2.5 inch ultimate mini projectors pang back up in case na di ko talaga ma fit yun Q5, ibenta ko nalang yun di ko magagamit. I choosed the ultimate mini as back up kasi andami mini projectors sa china and yun ang model na mas maganda ang output compared to the regular na mini kasi ang daming copy nyan sa china and mahirap malaman ano yun equivalent ng latest morimoto model unless sa TRS ka bibili.

When the projectors arrived, I was able to succesfully fit the Q5 on my corolla's headlight and was satisfied with its output specially compairing it with my previous halogen na RHD pa ang output hehehe.

Here is my first diy output.

Q5 is already enough to satisfy most lightning needs and increase safety through visibility....
you wont go back sa halogen after going retrofit either bolt on or hindi, hahaha

Finally had my HL retrofitted with mini H1 using F5 Fastbright ballasts and 5000K bulbs.

Congratz laki ng difference ng output compared to halogen.

55 watts ba yun F5 fastbright na gamit mo. Last time kasi when I was deciding the wattage ng HID na gamitin ko medyo nag dalawang isip ako when I read a post in hidplanet of a case na natunaw yun reflector ng projector using 55 w HID.

At first gusto ko na maximize yun light output kaso ayoko naman na masayang investment ko in case na ma burn reflectors ng projector kaya in the end I settled to 35 watts just to be safe.

Pero I think rare and isolated case lang yun and wala pa naman naka experience sa atin dito.

^ Oo. Ang layo ng difference lalo na pag totally dark.

55W yung F5 fastbright. Initially wanted 35W lang but yung nagretrofit kasi either generic 35W or yung 55W DLT F5 fastbright ang available so yung F5 na lang for the same price. Parang mas maganda yung quality compared sa generic ballasts. Yun din naman recommended nya at may warranty naman. Meron na din syang Q5R pero lagpas sa budget ko kaya MH1 na lang muna. Based din sa mga posts sa hidplanet, maraming gumagamit ng 55W even sa generic MH1 na wala namang issue.

Iniisip ko din na kung masunog yung reflector bowl, papalitan ko na ng Q5R. Yung MH1 pala na ininstall ay yung may SUPER na nakalagay sa top ng bowl kung saan nakalagay yung ULTIMATE sa Ultimate MH1projector. Not sure kung ito yung previous version na pinalitan ng Ultimate or ito na yung higher end MH1 ng ibang manufacturer. Basta ok na ako na hindi sya generic MH1.

Napansin ko lang medyo nasa left ng cutoff yung hot spot ng passenger side. Malaki yung nahaharang ng cut off shield. I tweak ko na lang yung seating ng bulb pag may chance para gumitna yung hot spot. Baka gumanda pa ng konti distance lighting at width sa right side. Ok naman yung driver side. Tingin ko dahil ito sa generic H1 HID bulb na kasama sa kit na hindi swakto yung focal point sa reflector bowl.

Kayang kaya ng Q5R yung 55W. Malaki yung reflector bowl nyan. Yung unang version ng FXR may issue talaga na nagpepeel off yung bowl coating pag 55W. Sa mga newer versions nacorrect na sa pagkakaalam ko. Nasa V3 na ata ngayon.
