tama on the sentra... lufet umakyat. nice handling too (but depending on the suspension setup).

i don't know if the Mazda 3 would also qualify on the akyatan stuff, but for really flat roads, it would still be the civic.

The van drivers are still the king of the roads when it comes to highways in the north.

I may be a decent driver but there are some gods out in those mountains. I once got passed on a downhill Togue run through Nueva Ecija.... We were booking it out of a corner and were up to about 130-140 km/h going downhill in my old 626 (stock suspension, but 17" Federal 595SS tires...)... then a local whiz passes us like we were standing still.

He taps lightly on the brakes going into the next sweeper (still doing about 120-140 when he gets there) and swings around... I do my best to keep up. Bang down into gear around the next turn, brake a bit more (I was chicken ... so sue me...) then use the great torque of the 626's 2.0 to pull up on him. We play cat-and-mouse for a while, hitting around 120-140 between turns, but I can't pull on him. Finally, he gets stuck behind a truck and I take my chance... finally!

Honestly... who would have thought that it would take so long to overtake an old diesel Land Rover Defender on skinny stock tires? That thing was faaaaaast.

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Uhuh. The nissan safari is just wayy to big, could be the 2nd or 3rd king of the road maybe. Well yeah, I`d admit, some vans are just wayyy faster than other sedans.

BTT: For me, the sentra`s the fastest among your choices.

Well, vans like the Hiace Grandia and Starex and Innova (it's MPV though) are among the fastest vans I've seen so far...

I think yes, the Sentra (GA16DE; thanks to the twin cam) or maybe Civic (siguro pag nakavtec?) ...

Pag stock ang pinagkukumpara, technically, I'd go for Civic. Well, Honda cars are known for higher power output over their competitions. But then again, from my experience, ang performance ng isang tsikot ay depende na rin sa nagmamaneho: 50% car - 50% driver.

I agree also on the Mazda 323/Ford Lynx.

In the end, it still boils down to who's driving what. I'll vote for the Sentra driven by Niky... given he decides to turn off the a/c... hehehehe.
And I thought I was the only one smoked by those vans. Going fast is one thing, but the way they throw those things into the downhill corners makes my hairs stand on end.

The Civic SiR is fast as well. It's the only Honda apart from the 2.4 CRV that feels like its got decent torque.

From the choices though, the sentra feels like it has more low end torque than the lancer.

I might want to agree to this, as Ive recently beaten a 1.6 Altis using my mom's Sentra GX 1.3.. I never thought it could run past 150kph (on 5th gear), underestimating its eco-green oriented engine. Mabilis din naman pala.

But my personal ride (an EG sedan) did smoke non-Honda cars (dont wanna name labels for diplomacy's sake...) na nakikipagsabayan naman along SLEX...

Admitedly, I lost to an AE92 - one with a silvertop engine.

Bakit hindi sinama ang 323 sa list?

1975 car? What car?

I own a Sentra Super Saloon. Bought it in Dec 97. It's the one with 4 disc brakes and ABS. Lavander Mist pati ang kulay (ok it's my wife's car). We live in Baguio at that time. This car rocks in uphills and in twists. Kahit pababa ng Kenon Road. Very stable sa corners and because of the ABS very confident in breaking. It can keep up with the Civic anytime. I am now based in QC but still kept this car for coding. Even after 12 yrs mas malamig pa rin ang aircon niya kesa sa Sta Fe at Jazz ko.

I think you're talking about the Super Touring - a car I really admire despite not even having a chance to drive one...

On paper, it's something you would want besides the Mazdaspeed 323 and the baby altis...

At a university car show, an SiR (b16a) once beat the EX in the "engine roar" category...

Makes me think, the k20 i-vtec isn't really as famous and cult (despite being more powerful - on paper) as the b16a and the Mitsu EX's engine...

C/D went to test the Sentra GXE (1.6L MT) some time in 1995 (i think C/D 7/95 issue, Series III in our market) it went 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and did 1/4mile in 16.7 seconds.
Civic EX coupe (EK in our market) 1.6L MT 127hp did an identical number in Road and Track magazine in 1995.
Corolla DX (AE101 in our market) with 1.8L MT 113hp did 9.3 and 17.1 seconds.
Mirage (lower end model Lancer though with 1.5L EFi not equivalent to local GLXi) was the slowest doing it in 10.plus seconds and approached 18s in the 1/4mile.

Because there are many types of K20.

To make things short (but in no way, precise):

K20A - Type R

K20Z - Econobox - we have these.

There's a K20Z powering the USDM Si Civics that make about 200hp though.

Keep in mind, US 0-60 times are often 0.2-0.5 seconds faster than 0-100 times... and Car and Driver times are faster than most, because they insist on catastrophic clutch-slip launches and SAE correct the hell out of all their times... Expect that 95 Sentra to do 0-100 in about 9.5-10 seconds.

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
