toyota has the vans fitted to be ambulances. they have the right height for the patient gurney and tie down fitments for it. the ambulance has to have a bigger engine than it needs for extra equipment like breathing oxygen, defibrilator, spare linen, bandages, bodily fluid kits and so on. a meager 2.0 engine will not cut it. the lights, communication and other electrical loads needs two batteries and a bigger charging system to match it. it should also have a bigger airconditioning unit in it.

so you get the less expensive ones that might cost more to maintain in terms of cost per mile? not to get extravagant, the main objective here is to get the patient to urgent care promptly and comfortably since the patient might be in severe pain to begin with. wait 'til he/she dies and he/she rides in a cadillac hearse?

February 11th, 2011 09:54 PM #15Well, if your budget is quite limited, I suggest you get the Foton View. Most bang for the buck for the money. You get the previous generation HiAce body and chassis and an improved Isuzu 4JB1 with turbo and "CRDi" (as they claim) that makes 102hp. Its the lowest costing out there and is more powerful than the L300, Urvan, K2700 and H100. If you've got a large budget, the Grand Starex is the best choice. Its got good ride quality and most importantly, a thrifty and powerful engine.

February 11th, 2011 11:46 PM #17Yup, yun ang gamit ng PCSO. Makikita rin natin ang durability and reliability nito in the long term. Kung mabubuhay ito ng matagal. As for parts availability, I wouldn't be fretting about that since AFAIK it does not use any proprietary technology from Foton. Parts should be readily available in Banawe. I believe besides the cosmetic parts, all mechanical parts should be interchangeable with Toyota and Isuzu parts.

Ang kawawang foton..
Currently ganito pa rin ang lagay niya due to unavailability of replacement parts..
Make: Foton View Ambulance Series
Owner: Provincial Government, Leyte/Palompon (Leyte) community Hospital
They could swap in front end parts from Japan surplus Hi Ace or even from chop-chop.
