    We have finally decided and made a deposit for the tbz ltx yesterday. It was a 4-0 vote and I would like to believe build quality was the biggest factor. Will pick up the unit next week once I have time to get it. My concern is I might not be able to sleep until then.

    To the TS,

    I'd start from what improvements does your Mom want from her last car. If she's always on the go then dashboard perks would hardly get noticed. I think the cars strong points would most likely steer in the areas of seating comfort plus added seat control features, Strong air conditioner, comfortable suspension or at least it should not be matagtag, ideal compartment loading as well as passenger seating, Good driver view and preferably no blind spots, a decent entertainment set and most importantly a strong but low maintenance engine. If the MU-X or any other vehicle comes close to these features then your Mom would most likely enjoy it. Good luck!

    ^Thanks! It will be her first. As ive said in my first post she's not techie. She's after good looks but not the macho kind of look. Id like her to be comfortable in it whether she's driving or as a passenger but knowing her, shed probably would prefer to be passenger so she can do phone transactions, etc on her way to suppliers. She might just ignore the entertainment features since wala pa naman syang apo na mangungulit ng disney movies or what not 😁 she'l probably listen to AM news for the latest typhoon than FM pop songs. lol.
    MU-X tech stuffs are sweet but the car isnt for me, its for my mom who really dont bother with the latest android or iphone, how much more with bluetooth and voice command. I bet she can be happy with a nokia 5110 as long as it serves the purpose and easy to use.

    Well then IMHO what she needs is very basic. Your dilemma is more on how YOU want to choose for her. Here's an easier way to decide, ISUZU MU-X, latest model from a company with a good history of reliable engine performance with perky features not to mention a noisy engine. Trailblazer of whatever variant, a new contender with a more powerful engine and a current market favorite along with it's contemporaries like the Montero and Fortuner, etc. Whatever people say about these two, you or your Mom's test ride will attest to your decision. In the end we as car buyers will have to rely on our good relationship with our vendors for warranties, PMS servicing and vehicle care. I have a neighbor who bought a Starex CVX a week apart from mine last December. His unit looks and runs oddly different though we have exactly the same model and batch. He just rides it like hell but mine, well it is treated with a lot of TLC. So no matter how same or different vehicles we compare them with it will still boil down to how much use we subject them to and what unit we believe can handle that kind of abuse.

    PS.
    I'd let your MOM do the test ride herself and be satisfied with her choice. It is going to be her car after all and besides they are all good cars anyway.

    Top-spec'd 4x4 MU-X or Trailblazer -> Trailblazer wins

    Top-spec'd 4x2 MU-X or Trailblazer -> MU-X wins

    Parts & Service MU-X or Trailblazer -> I tend to believe Isuzu will win here.

    Engine POWER and torque- trailblazer wins..

    Engine smoothness and quietness - Trailblazer wins

    Size - Trailblazer is bigger

    Interior - IMO better and Trailblazer

    Originality... MUx is a copy... it copied the TBLAZER....

    With great power comes with great responsibility. :D mas matakaw ang malakas sabi nga nila. Ok ang TBZ pag long drive palagi coz it has bigger engine displacement over MU-X para mamaximize ang FC. Lahat ng bago sa una matipid, bago kasi. Hehe kung di naman problem sayo FC, TBZ na lang kunin mo. Sir search mo kung bakit halos magkamuka ang TBZ at MU-X. Hehe magulat ka kung sino owner sa kanila.

    IMHO regarding parts is TB win. Why? Because TB is been here since Oct 2012, parts are already available. Since MUX is base from TB, therefore, MUX most likely be able to use parts intended for TB!........ and vice versa after at least 2 years

    My take on the issue...

    TS, since it'll be your mom using the vehicle, I raise the question as to who will be taking care of the maintenance ?

    It would be good to find out parts availability of both vehicles in your area for peace of mind. Adding up this information can help you make a better decision.

    TS, sabi mo nga si mom naman gagamit at hindi naman siya techie o maselan. Sabihin man natin na mas cheapo build-quality ng MU-X sa interior and exterior compared sa TBZ, ang importante 1st: reliability ng makina at ibang mechanical parts that makes the car run; 2nd: Availability ng parts kasama na diyan saan mas malapit na casa o kanino sa Isuzu at Chevrolet mas maraming casa mapuntahan from your place? 3rd: Practicality and Economical, alin mas bang for the bucks at acquisition? alin din ang more economical after sales (e.g. PMS)?

    About the techie thing, bonus na sa MU-X kung sa mas economical price ay maraming nilagay na features kay MU-X. My vote is MU-X (for your MOM), pero kung ako bibili at para sa akin I might get the Trailblazer TOTL pa nga dahil I'm younger and more aggressive, which depende talaga sa nature ng gagamit.

    TS, though we always like to give our parents the best, it would also be a good idea simply to ask her what she wants. Let your mom test drive both vehicles then let her decide.

    You mentioned that your mom initially wanted a montero but you said there are better options already hence your choosing between TBZ and MUX.

    TBZ, MUX, Monty, Forty, or Everest pa yan all have their pros and cons.. For me it boils down to :

    1. Dependability (specially bec your mom will be using it)

    2. Driving convenience (visibility, feel, handling - which you will only know by test driving)

    3. Accessibility of the casa/ dealership in your moms place.

    ganyan naman palagi strategy ng isuzu. give a less powerful engine against the competition at bawiin nalang sa ibang features. tignan niyo crosswind ngayon same engine pero may drl na :D

    We cannot say that TBZ is bigger than Mu X. Pareho ng platform yan. Iba lang, engine, tranny and suspension.

    Pwde nating sabihin TBZ looks bulkier than Mu X especially sa front end end pero dimension wise, they should be almost the same.

    She will have to be responsible for its maintainance. I think there's chevy casa in Dagupan. Isuzu I saw one in Urdaneta.

    Thank you for your insights! Sana may nakatry na dito ng Tbz at Mu-x and tell me which one has better suspension / hindi matagtag. Mom will depend on my recommendation. pati test drive ako na daw, report ko na lang skanya yung result. She trusts me on this one than herself siguro dahil ive been driving for 7 yrs na with 2 diff brands of car. I just dont want to disappoint her 😊

    Deleted na yung fortuner at everest. I know for a fact na mataas than competition ang pms cost ng Ford. Looks great yeah, pero no thanks. Fortuner, with all due respect, No also.
