in my experience kasi mas malakas makina mas matipid din kasi mas konting tapak sa gas tatakbo na. used to drive a 318 now iam driving a 325 and IMHO mas nakakatipid ako sa ride ko ngayon. BTW di pa valvetronic yung 318 ko nuon ha ewan ko lang ngayon...

True if your used to pinoy driving. But economical driving in heavy city traffic lmas matipid pa rin yung mas maliit na capacity. If your used to driving a certain pace, some small displacment cars would consume more gas because you press on the gas more to achieve your desired pace. Its driving style that can determine which car best suits you. I know some low engine displacment benz's have a higher manufacturers fuel consumption that the same car with a higher displacement.

But for the fortuner, i drove the 2.5D-4d and find it very adequate for city driving, including floods, potholes and traffic. if you do plan to go off road in lahar, mud etc. or if you plan to haul lots of heavy stuff and equipment then you are better off with the 4x4 3.0L d4d. But if you have the cash then why not buy the higher model diba. a 2.5D is practical and economical if used in city driving to pick up kids and not do a lot of errand works.

Wala naman problema sa cash, tingin ko nga better buy 3.0 sa 2.5 bihira ko din naman kasing gagamitin so sa high-end nako. thanks a lot guys.

As counter intuitive as it sounds, but based on actual user's experience, the 2.5li is indeed thriftier than the 3.0li. Of course, the agent from Balintawak would really like to sell you the 3.0 because it costs Php 245,000 more than the 2.5li, imagine the comission they would be getting from such a sale. However, you should watch out for unpredictable and unresolved D4-D problems, which especially afflicts the 2.5li predominantly. Havent heard of any documented problems for the 3.0li yet.
