I was leaning towards the Getz too. Masyado na nga mahal yung iba for a small car but just like sir kimpOy said sans the price, I'd go for the Swift. By the way, para sa mga younger sis ko 'to if ever. Personally, I won't go smaller than the 1.6-2.0 sedans.

Either the Hyundai Getz CRDi or Honda Jazz 1.5 VTEC.

But in the end, Jazz, for its resale value, safety features (dual airbags, EBD, ABS, etc.), and useable cargo area (if the brochure is to be believed, the Jazz has MORE cargo space than a CRV with all the second row folded).

I'm sure the Jazz will be facelifted and updated this year. Some features worth waiting for: Optitron gauges, keyless entry, Paddle shifter, fascia lift, etc.

If I have to rank them...

    1) Jazz - best all around hatch, even more practical than a small 1.6L sedan
    2) Swift - looks fun the most, not very practical
    3) Getz - cheap interiors
    4) Picanto - cheap interiors & smaller
    5) Aveo

When you say cheap interiors, does it mean: a) the plastics look cheap or b) the plastics break easily (brittle) or c) both?

Comparing the Getz to say, a Jazz or Swift, you can immediately tell that the latter two have better interiors. Whether plastics break easily, I wouldn't know since I dont have one.

I'm not saying that the Getz is a terrible car but imho, if you are looking for a nice car to own but youre also in a tight budget, the Jazz or Swift is definitely better. For me, the Jazz 1.5L is even more practical than an entry level 1.6L sedan.

since you included "price" as part of your consideration, i will have to go for getz for all around practicality. without the price tag though, i will go for the jazz 1.5 cvt, imho best over-all value in the long haul...

Hyundai Getz CRDi A/T kung meron for fuel economy and price
if not i would get a Honda Jazz 1.3 CVT, a bit pricey but worth it. or i would get a Suzuki Swift 1.5 if i own a gas station.

Getz 1.5 CRDi - interior and exterior have improved over its predecessor and has the most powerful an arguably most efficient engine. 4-star crash test rating, good suspension and handlling. It's only available in manual.

It costs 628k! At this price range, you could only get the 1.3 Jazz models. Too steep a price to pay imo. Prestige is not everything.

Disregarding prestige and price, I would (still) go for the Honda Jazz.

Don't worry, no prestige there to disregard in the first place.

The Picanto's interior gets scratched easily. Maybe that's what he meant. But it's tolerable. I mean, I don't have claws, you know.

*picantorange: i meant prestige of the Honda brand over the others.

*isuzoom: diba 1.5 lang din yung Swift? Also, alam ko meron din 1.5 na Getz...

i just parked beside a Getz this morning... looking at it up-close and on the road (as opposed to a showroom), I am convinced about the Jazz or Swift being the better choices.

Well, for around 200K price diff, it *should* be! ;)
