with current high price of gasoline, i'll go for hyundai getz(crdi).
fuel consumption is at par with the jazz but since diesel fed mas mura sa pocket.

kaya i would stil go for the jazz kahit 1.3 lang.. it has the same km/l to the others... but with higher HP...
AFAIK, Suzuki is a japanesse car....

Sayang ang Aveo hatchback... specifically the previous 1.2 model. If they priced it similar to the Getz or Picanto, it would've sold better... I remembered it was more expensive than the second grade Getz (1.4) but cheaper than the base Jazz (1.3). The one aspect that really turned me off, however, was the 8-valve SOHC engine...

    Just my two cents.

The 8 valver really doesn't good on a spec sheet. But most of the time, they're easier and less expensive to work on.

    Just something to think about.

But yeah, those Aveos are quite overpriced. Those emblems must be made of gold.

Nope it is now 16 Valve, 4 cylinders 1500cc displacement. DOHC, Dual Airbags and side airbags with diagonal impact beams, ito yung car na may susi na may chip.. kasi diba pag yung carnapper succeed to get in the car. where he manage to hack the keyless remote entry at pag susi nya mapaandar nya pero in just a very short distance kusa mamatay yung makina kasi signatured ang chip...o diba...plus intruder alarm all in one with rear bumper anti bangga alarm hehehe...
4.5 stars sa US rating sa frontal crash test. 109 bhp na siya ngayon at anu pa 11.3 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour / 97 km per hour. sa Automatic transmission na yan with a top speed of 170 km/hr!
high end na aveo yung nabili ko worth 680k para kay misis. pero mine is a mitsubishi...(secret) basta mabilis hehehe... even though its from deawo korea pero of course chevy standard.. retail price worth 680k as of january 2007. it can match the power of jazz, dudz! pero ako i will stick to my mitsubishi shark VR4 24V 4x4 Twin turbo Supercharged. hay naku ang yabang ko talaga sori po... pero i really appreciate the Aveo5 now. Mataba kasi siya tignan at euro and dating kasi nga italian designer ang may gawa.... in the back of my head i still admire the 1996/1997 MT honda accord. her body lining and low profile sharp edge wide body esp at 45 deg view it was really the car of the year 1996-1997? in america. Look at the new aveo5 2007 dudz. it cute... your girl will certainly fancy about it!!! lalo pag nabihisan...hello...

Bare units are still available locally (still at crazy a$$ high prices relative to the vehicle's actual content).

The only variant that seems to make any sense would be the sedan. The hatches are asking for too much cash. Does it really have a side airbag system? The presskit only mentions dual airbags and ABS for local units.

For a supposed economy car, the lack of third-party product support is appaling (naubos araw ko kakalakad sa Banawe).

I just want to know once and for all kung ano ang pinaka fuel efficient (wag nang isali Suzuki Alto pls).

    Actually, I'd say:

    1. Getz CRDi
    2. Jazz 1.3 CVT / Picanto 1.1
    3. Jazz 1.5 / Yaris 1.5 AT
    4. Rio 1.4 MT / Swift 1.5
    5. Chevy Aveo 1.4

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Of course the price differences will be a factor for me too if I were the one choosing. How many years will you need in using the cars before you break even if you chose the diesel models instead of the gas models? In other words the price difference between diesel and gas and the fuel economy of diesel over gas should be substantial for me to choose the former over the latter! Just my 2 cents.

I think pricing is what is hurting Suzuki. Similar to the Cr-V vs Vitara comparo years back. The Honda is more 'mainstream' vs. the Zuk which is more fit for purpose.

Just because a product is good doesn't mean it will sell well. People tend to eschew marketing, but to be honest, that's what drives sales. Suzuki's brand equity cannot push its products off the showrooms, no matter how nice they may be intrinsically. After-sales service is also a major factor to consider when buying.

Also, just because it sells well in Europe doesn't mean it will sell well here. In the Philippines, subcompact cars are utilized as family cars for those in a budget. People don't buy hatches because they're fun to drive - they buy them because they're practical and spacious and fuel efficient.

Say what you want about the majority of Filipinos being boring with their car choices, but this is a country where coming up with enough funds for even a subcompact is difficult for many, and so it's understandable that when they do have the resources for a car, they get one that will fit the needs of not only themselves, but also of their families.
