Hi! I'm new here. Need help on deciding which budget car to buy. (1st car!)

I'm on a very tight budget but since I'm gonna spend narin naman my lifelong savings, I wana make it worth my while...

So I need your help. I can't decide between Jazz 1.3 AT or Getz 1.4 AT. Based on your posts, parang panay MT ung sinasabi niyo. What about the automatic?

I don't know about the makina ha... but my prob with Jazz is it's 100K more expensive than Getz. My prob with Getz is it's a Hyundai - baka pangit resale value, and it's not that pretty outside, parang black lang yung magandang color dun e.

I test drove a Picanto and nanginginig sya and it's such a sad car... parang super bare, talagang something to bring you from point A to point B. Swift is too expensive. Vios is just UGLY. I'll only drive it if it's given to me for FREE. City is so-so but i'd rather have a hatch.

Jazz na lang, may money ka, wag kang manghinayang sa 100k premium. you'd definitely make use of it once u decide to resell your car.. plus, a honda is still a honda.. bat ayaw mo ng city? mas gusto ko yun actually.. mas mura pa and mas gs2 ko interior nya..

getz jazz parehong tipid sa gasolina. :-)

i personally dont like the getz design, wala kasing dating for me.. well im not all impressed with jazz's design either. lols.\

nanginginig ang pica? an owner here said he dint have problems reaching 150.. ewan ko lng kung totoo..

maganda po tlga ang swift.. :-) yan ang pinakamagandang hatch sa pilipinas imo... (bmw 1 series aside LOL)

Well, if resale value is important to you, Jazz 1.3. But then again, Hondas have high resale values because they often cost more than similar vehicles. This means vehicles with similar engines and transmissions... accessories don't count. If a Nissan and a Honda both have 1.6 liter engines and you pay 800k for both of them, and the Nissan has more safety features and toys, those features won't add to its resale value, which will invariably fall close to the resale value of the base Nissan 1.6.

In other words, only the cost of the bare car affects resale value... when you buy a car with lots of features, you're paying up-front at a loss for that extra stuff.

But definitely, if you want an automatic, the 1.3 will save you more fuel with a smaller penalty in driveability than the Kia's 1.4 AT... though the 1.3 CVT is still kinda slow and hard to overtake in.

    It's all up to you.

There are worries about belt lifetime in the CVT, but so far, no word of failures, so it's not a problem (fingers crossed).

In the end, the Jazz 1.3 CVT is a much better car than the Getz 1.4 AT, but it's up to you whether you want to spend the extra money. The Getz isn't a bad car, and, in my opinion, is worth what you pay for it. There's a reason that the Getz/Picanto tandem has garnered awards and citations worldwide... it's because they're cheap, but not of cheap quality...

except the plastics, but almost every manufacturer nowadays has sh*tty plastic in one car or another.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

the top-tier (V-spec) City and Jazz certainly have much nicer (black-out) interiors than the lower models.. but they cost more than a Mazda3!

although arguably you get two airbags and ABS for that.. not such a bad deal.

    Thanks!

I went to Hyundai Edsa yday and checked out the car. (Sidenote: way better sales service in edsa than in q. ave.) The car is small nga. The Jazz is way roomier.

If the Getz is 1.4 and Jazz is 1.3, does it mean that Getz is more powerful?

Last question. What if I buy a brand new but old model of Jazz so I can get it cheaper. Is this a good idea? Pahanap daw sa Honda minsan meron silang ganon.

The picanto looks like a cool and fun ride. Aside from the talked about fuel efficiency, it seems to accelerate quite fast when I see at the road. Not bad for the price.

Kia claim's a 0-100kph acceleration of 15.4 seconds for the Picanto 1.1 M/T. Not exactly fast. But still a bit faster than some SUV's and pick ups. The Pajero, if I'm not mistaken, needs almost 20 seconds to accomplish the same feat.

Picanto top speed? A claimed 154 kph

i've reached 160 kph sa picanto ko. stock engine.
rpm was at 5000 if i remember right.
done it sa nlex and star tollway.
however, average speed sa nlex is
    between 120 and 140.
    mostly done during night
when there are only a few cars.
think i can squeeze more juice
if i changed my air filter.

Agree. I've hit 165 km/h on my stock M/T Pica, and that's with the air conditioning running. Very stable pa at high speeds (kung walang crosswind), considering the weight of the vehicle.

Jazz!!!! worth the money, you have upgrades, fuel efficiency, parts, service centers, nice interior, semi-sporty seats, reliable car, great over all sub-compact car!!! and even after 10 years you can bring your car to Honda service centers meron pa rin parts.

picanto, if your budget is tight this will do for you. and you just need a car to drive get this... you wont get all power feature unlike jazz, space, adjustable steering and specialy the ever reliable of honda...

Hyundai Getz CRDI... Diesel nice malayo mararating, asteticaly nice!!! but you'll be spending morethan the price (600++K) of jazz idsi-S... aircon is not that powerful, brake system is poor... draw back is the PARTS, if your willing to wait for weeks, months if your gonna replce some parts. see other threads regarding getz also i have problem with my korean car in terms of parts.

Getz 1.1 nice, but still you'll be facing issues on parts and engine body ratio. laki body liit engine. pro ok yung power features and CD head unit.

Suzuki Swift... nice overall design... cost!!! the price... specially after sales you have to deal with few dealer, service center and also will affect the price of parts.

the AVEO? i suggest to choose Picanto 1.1 or Getz 1.1 or jazz if money is not a problem get a swift... if you get aveo you'll get head ache, price, labor, parts.

I couldnt tell if it was a manual or a CVT but I swear that when i was at maximum speed, it was CATCHING up (even if slowly). I guess it has better aero than the Jazz (my Jazz had the front chin spoiler and rear spoiler. maybe that added drag)
Yung limit talaga ng tsikot mo yung transmission. I believe it may be limited in the top end to preserve the life of the CVT. I think the manual may be able to break 190.

Yung MT na kasama namin, 160 km/h di siya at the end of the straights at BRC... same top speed as we were getting in our Ford RS's and SiRs. Pero modified na ang exhaust niya, and his Advan Neova tires allowed him to punch out of the last corner pretty fast.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

magaan lang kasi po ang picanto so
    ok ang power-to-weight ratio.
    haven't really tried reaching its
    maximum speed though.
but i think kaya pa ng engine.
siguro nga if i lowered the car,
changed the air filter, spark plugs
and added high tension wires baka
    masagad ko yung 180.
there was this guy in germany
who did it sa autobahn, though
there were no pics to corroborate
    his claim. pwede! hehehe.

    ot
magkano ang chin spoiler at rear spoiler ng jazz?
    mugen-type ba yung rear mo?
nagtanong kasi ako sa banawe, 3500 php
w/o paint. +1200 php with paint yung rear.
pwede raw kasing i-fit yung rear spoiler
sa picanto. i don't know kung pwede yung front.
    thanks!!!
