For the 4x4 navara and brte the rear suspension design is leaf spring over axle while the 4x2 has the suspension design of axle over leaf spring. Advantage of leaf spring over axle is the grest suspension travel translating to the better rieing comfort, set back is the carrying capacity.... Max payload of the 4x4 is only up to 800 kgs. The 4x2 was designed as a workhorse with a max capacity of 1 ton.

sabi ngTS ang choices niya ang mga base model. if i remember correctly, dmax base model, LT, is the NON crdi engine. the higher dmax models are crdi. hilux and stradas are all crdi engines.

Gas mileage is exceptionally good especially considering that this is a 3.0L engine. 8-10km/L city driving is not unheard of with this engine. And then again, don't be fooled by the modest power figures as this ain't no slow-ass pickup. I have TRAILED a D-Max once from Quirino Ave, through Nagtahan, until Lacson Ave with our 2.4 Accord. Boy was it fast! There were many instances wherein I had to floor the gas to keep up with him....
Were you trailing near behind the Dmax chief with your Accord?

Buti nalang hindi pumreno o napa-freno bigla ang nagmamanejo ng Dmax at di ka biglaang bumangga sa likod nito (although i know, of course, you are a good driver and car expert chief NAKS! ....at scenario lang naman ito although an accident towards anyone here, kahit pa hindi kasundo one way or the other, or even most of the time, is NOT what i wish for....)

Had that experience na binangga ako ng kotse sa likod before way back in early 2010, while temporarily stopped ako at the outermost lane ng Commonwealth to text wifey re kung saan ko siya susunduin sa Tomas Morato that night.

Tiyak baka ganito mangyayari sa Accord sir, although not sure how tough ang harap ng Accord compared to the 1990's Toyota Corolla body.

Bumper ng Dmax after the incident

Harap ng Corolla after the incident....

The same case could well probably be with all the other pickups kapag tumama ang kotse sakto sa rear bumpers ng mga ito. As per the Dmax, bukod sa matigas ang rear bumper nito, dala-dalawa pati ang cross-members sa pinakadulo ng rear section ng ladder-chassis nito where the one member is even acting like a Y-brace sa pinaka-pugit na cross-member kaya sadyang matigas ito sa likod....

If you want a comfortable pickup though, better go with the Strada. It has significantly lesser bed space though.

Haha~ Walang bolahan at laitan! I remember that was a bright red D-Max na humaharurot ng mabilis. I figured he would do well as a traffic escort. Although syempre highway driving rules apply here, closest distance I get is upto where I can still get a full view of his whole rear in the windshield. Hindi pwede masira yang Accord dahil daily driver yan!

Another thing I noticed about the D-Max is that it has good NVH. A relative of mine has a D-Max IPV, so 4JA1 engine. Although you can hear the distinct sound of the old school engine from outside (but still less noisy than the Crosswind), it will not show inside the car. The vibration is actually very refined, and the sound is not even close to intrusive. Eh, old school 4JA1 na yan ah.

It might also be a DRIVER factor. That driver is driving a Dmax ..but at that same moment and in all probability he could also be driving a Hilux, a Strada, or a Navarra, who, I think can also come out fast if the driver floors it! The point is, the Dmax can be fast. But so are the others as well.

The driver still counts in as a factor out of the many factors to consider when it comes to speed and fuel economy.

Tama ka diyan bro. Just that the D-Max has the lowest power output on paper, which makes its feisty performance more surprising.

Baka break-in period naman.

Hilux 3.0 D-4D and Ranger 3.0 TDCi are truly ok as well as regards to kargahan at akyatan.
