So why in the world would people want to hit 200kph on a high centered vehicle? All the more with one's family on board?

I hardly consider top speed as a criteria on my vehicle choices. When it comes to performance, I put more value on mid range performance so i have good acceleration and can safely pass vehicles on the highway or climb up a mountain road with ease. In that department, the Innova a/t would have a harder time in mid range passing once it's loaded up with passengers and baggage. If i had one as my weekend out of town drive, i would definitely look to some bolt-ons to help in that department.

Sakit yata ng Innova yung leaking shocks (particularly at the rear). Toyota replaced ours under warranty before.

If you want speed and acceleration, get the Innova gas

Mine is innova gas, there is speed and acceleration once in motion na ang sasakyan, pero from stop to go, mag primera ka muna. Talo pa ng fx na naka2c sa arangkada from stop.

Kung ang goal niyo ay 200kph top speed i suggest you get the korean suv instead.

A family friend who owns a 2nd gen Fortuner 2KD A/T shared that it has lots of grunt down low to around mid range of the rpm band making it quite agile in city driving and, I presume, also mountain roads. Gas mileage is also quite good at around 8-9km/L city. That would be somewhat of the opposite to the Montero, which is rather lifeless below 2000rpm but gives good power from mid to high end. Based on my experience with the VGT Strada, it's also very stable on high speeds despite the high center of gravity. Surprisingly so, in fact. Gas mileage differs greatly depending on who's driving. According to the MID, a rather constant 6.2km/L city for very heavy footed driving and around 8.5km/L city from the light footed drivers of our family. A Baguio trip with it (driven by my heavy-footed uncle) gave around 9km/L, including the 200km/h runs and covering Kennon Road in 15 minutes. It currently has around 4tkms on the clock.

Innova gas? Nah~ Gets poor gas mileage and lacks punch. You'd find yourself flooring the gas a lot. If you're getting the gas, might as well get the Fuzion. At least it's more comfortable and spacious. For good performance, the easiest way is to get a manual Montero and chip it!

Hehehe, sobra naman inapi innova gas, mas mabilis naman onte sa fx. My previous innova was a gas mt, indeed you have to work on the gas to have decent acceleration ( peak torque is only 18.2 compared sa 20 ng fuzion ) and the stick shift has long throws. Stay below 100kph and mileage is acceptable at 10 - 12 km/L, but once you breach this your mileage will suffer significantly.Top speed is at 170kph. We travel to baguio 3-4x/yr as this is the family's fave vacation spot. Hindi ka naman mabibitin paakyat pero ramdam mo medyo kapos na and bumabagal pagdating sa steep inclines ( Need to turn off the aircon for more power ). Ang mahirap is when nabitin ka steep inclines at nag stop ( accidents/ road repairs ) but still you can manage, pagalingan na lang sa pag modulate ng clutch. Other than these, it is a very reliable car. Not once did I encounter a problem with it for 4 1/2 yrs.Traded it with d4d AT. It really acccelerate much faster than the gas as 100kph is achieved in short time. Also at this speed, the rpm is only at 2000, so noise is also minimal. No need to turn off the aircon even on steep inclines going up to baguio and pleasantly surprised that it can still accelerate kahit paakyat which you really can't do with the gas even if you floor it. Well maingay nga lang ( pag sa labas, sound is well insulated inside ), with some vibration on idle. Also the fit and finish of the current innova seemed to have taken a backseat ( the older versions are shinier, glossier). The rubber guide sa windows are oftentimes ill fitted ( have seen many already popping out even if brand new). Take note also that body panels are prone to denting even on regular opening and closing of doors seen tangentially. On fit and finish, hands down montero is the winner.

Yes, pinakamaganda body is the one before the facelifts, not prone to denting and excellent finish

Ganun ata talaga ang innova gas, but what can I do, got it for 300k sa Ford, trade in ng isang seaman for an Everest, and it is an Innova 08 E with 52k mileage and casa records hehehehe...

Any modern car is stable at high speed in a straight line. What a lot of "look-at-me-im-fast and my car is sooo stable" drivers don't know are handling and braking dynamics under varying situations at those speeds coupled with factors such as vehicle load, height, tyre pressure, road conditions (irregularities, an oil patch, rain, etc). Those who eventually found out usually have their cars parked at the SCTEX and NLEX wreck yards.

    Kennon Road = approx 40kms. Average speed to cover 40kms in 15mins = 160kph

Congrats to your heavy footed uncle and his Montero Sport. He's faster then the local professional drivers using a sport tuned, low center of gravity vehicle.

Hehe, goodtime lang, pampagising ng thread!!. Before the great earthquake of 1991, Kennon road was almost flawless, halos wala lubak and smooth. remembered one time going down with almost no traffic, 30min at best using the legendary lancer sl boxtype. After this, d na nila naayos kennon, laging nasisira. Best is marcos but more travel time and kms.

Tama! Pero ngayon gumaganda na ulit! Besides the occasional patches of roadwork near the top, it's basically flawless again!
