A family friend who owns a 2nd gen Fortuner 2KD A/T shared that it has lots of grunt down low to around mid range of the rpm band making it quite agile in city driving and, I presume, also mountain roads. Gas mileage is also quite good at around 8-9km/L city. That would be somewhat of the opposite to the Montero, which is rather lifeless below 2000rpm but gives good power from mid to high end. Based on my experience with the VGT Strada, it's also very stable on high speeds despite the high center of gravity. Surprisingly so, in fact. Gas mileage differs greatly depending on who's driving. According to the MID, a rather constant 6.2km/L city for very heavy footed driving and around 8.5km/L city from the light footed drivers of our family. A Baguio trip with it (driven by my heavy-footed uncle) gave around 9km/L, including the 200km/h runs and covering Kennon Road in 15 minutes. It currently has around 4tkms on the clock.

Innova gas? Nah~ Gets poor gas mileage and lacks punch. You'd find yourself flooring the gas a lot. If you're getting the gas, might as well get the Fuzion. At least it's more comfortable and spacious. For good performance, the easiest way is to get a manual Montero and chip it!

Akala ko pa naman may Skyway na sa Kennon Road.
Pero 15mins? Kayanin kaya 'yan kung One Way at walang ibang sasakyan sa daan?
Nakakata- cute pa rin! Hahahaha! :superhero:

Hehe, goodtime lang, pampagising ng thread!!. Before the great earthquake of 1991, Kennon road was almost flawless, halos wala lubak and smooth. remembered one time going down with almost no traffic, 30min at best using the legendary lancer sl boxtype. After this, d na nila naayos kennon, laging nasisira. Best is marcos but more travel time and kms.

Tama! Pero ngayon gumaganda na ulit! Besides the occasional patches of roadwork near the top, it's basically flawless again!

Any modern car is stable at high speed in a straight line. What a lot of "look-at-me-im-fast and my car is sooo stable" drivers don't know are handling and braking dynamics under varying situations at those speeds coupled with factors such as vehicle load, height, tyre pressure, road conditions (irregularities, an oil patch, rain, etc). Those who eventually found out usually have their cars parked at the SCTEX and NLEX wreck yards.

    Kennon Road = approx 40kms. Average speed to cover 40kms in 15mins = 160kph

Congrats to your heavy footed uncle and his Montero Sport. He's faster then the local professional drivers using a sport tuned, low center of gravity vehicle.
