The Toyota Corolla 1.6L is a decent sized car with reliability attached to it's name. Rides well (on the soft side) and supposed to give decent fuel economy. It's definitely not a sporty ride but the 1.6L engine gives out 122hp, not bad for a small engine (typical EFI 1.6L engine a few years back only does 110hp). This car is the safe choice for anyone who is going to own a car for the first time and might plan to keep the car for many years too.

This is exactly what we thought of the Altis when we decided on this one last January (sakto pagkaka-describe ni GH). Alot of ideas and suggestions came from my family when we were choosing. We felt it was the right car for us at that time. Of course we picked the 1.6V because parang bitin pa ng konti yung G variant. Passed up on the 2.0... its not what we really need.

Talaga. Yung current generation Elantra nga, isa lang nakita ko sa daan sa 2-3years na binenta ng Hyundai yung Elantra dito. Yung i30 mga tatlo.

Dapat talaga tapatan or babaan na ng Hyundai ang presyo ng compacts nila para mabenta na. Kung 1M and above na naman yan siguradong para Kia Forte, current Elantra at i30 na naman ang All New Elantra.

Mazda 2 was pretty fun to drive..and very easy to drive. just point and shoot! As it being a small car, it moves pretty quickly when you want it to. It's a good car I think for a 1st time driver. It also doesn't look too bad.

The Accent Blue is another nice choice by looks alone.

Also consider this, the above are only 4 speed a/t. Since you do mostly city driving, i think that'll be fine. 5 and especially 6 speed automatic trannies are extra perks for open roads.

You know why?

Because of the CRDi engine. It made the Elantra and i30 expensive. And bare. And the unavailability of an A/T variant.

Now, the Accent GLS-Blue, for 808K, it's worth it. You get more features than Honda City.

And the 2011 Elantra might be priced like Corolla Altis.

I'm sure if the Elantra is launched before the Mazda3 and Honda Civic makakalimutan na rin ng tao yang Elantra.

Even if I like the i30, I agree that it was a hard sell. Was. It's now only available through indent order, far as I know.

But I'll have to disagree with what you said about the new Accent. How can you comment that it's overpriced when you haven't seen it? 588k for the base model. 808k for class-leading space in the subcompact market plus oodles of toys. Not to mention, there are already a sizeable group of early adopters. :D

I haven't seen one (Accent Blue) from the road from fellow motorists.

Sabi ko yung Accent Blue yung overpriced at hindi yung 588k na base model.

Basta subcompact sedan na 800k+ overpriced na sa akin eh. I'd rather have a compact sedan.

Buti pa ang subcompact hatchbacks wala ng mas malaki like a compact hatchback except na lang siguro sa Suzuki SX4 Crossover. Ang mas malaki na sa hatchback ay wagon or CUVs na.

+1 sa Vios. Mas elegant ang exterior kesa sa City. Except sa front. Also I prefer the Vios' Interior lots of cubby holes. Ang tacky lang talaga ng radio at aircon switches ng Honda City pasensya na sa mga Honda City owners.

It comes with an integrated HU with USB/Aux, 6 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel controls, supervision dials, and an info display with more features. True - more convenience than function, but this is always the case with top-of-the-line models. Case in point, Ford Fiesta. The Vios too, which is slightly more expensive.

Is it worth the 120k premium over the next model (1.4L A/T)? Bigger engine displacement, an added airbag, disc brakes, plus all the things both you and I mentioned. Yeah, I'd think so. I also think that among the top-of-the-line B-segment subcompacts - The Accent Blue is the most bang-for-buck. But of course, this is a forum. Everyone is entitled to disagree.:D

Sino naman nagsabi na favorite ko yung City at Vios? Wala naman akong City at Vios. I would never buy a Top of the Line subcompact car. Bibili lang ako ng subcompact car pag nagtipid na ako sa gas. Isa pa lahat naman talaga ng subcompact cars tacky yung interior compared sa compact sedan na top of the line, sa CUVs or sa midsize sedans.

2 days after the Accent Blue was released, I saw one. Sleek Silver sa may Resorts World. After 3 days I saw another, sa Jupiter, Phantom Black. Last week, I saw another Accent, color red. Lahat Accent GLS-Blue.
