    If it were me, Starex na. Wala pa akong alam na 'perfect' van after over 20 years of owning vans pero at least ang weakness in Starex mas predictable at mas madaling i-overcome kesa sa na-encounter namin DATING weakness ng mitsu.

    IMO, ang weakness ng Starex nasa tranny. Yung rust so far naman hindi. Baka naman kasi maalat yung tubig na pinangka-car wash kaya madaling kalawangin!

    Which tranny?

    Tha A/T of the Starex comes from Aisin. The same company that supplies Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc.

    I'm not sure who makes the M/T's for them.

    yung sa brother ko sir otep sa M/T nagka problema... sa transmission o differential yata.. gumastos sila ng 14 thou... crdi version 1 year pa lang...
    naging problema ay pag nag shift ng gear habang tumtakbo parang bumibitaw gear tapos kapit ulit... me kumakalatog sa ilalim.. pina test drive kase sakin..

    Kung 1 year pa lang, hindi ba dapat covered iyan ng 3 year bumper to bumper warranty ng Hyundai? Or did a part not covered by warranty break? (e.g. clutch disk and associated components)

    It happened to us with our previous Starex. Medyo doubtful nga lang kami kung hyundai ang may prob kasi wala akong tiwala doon sa nag break-in. When we got the current one, ako na mismo nag break-in at hindi na umulit. May nagloko pa din sa tranny, pero out of warranty na siya by then.

    Malaking bagay din ang tamang break-in at TLC. Our '98 11-seater N/A Starex is still doing well. It's slow, but it's still solid.

    starex kung ako. ung starex kasi namin ay 98 model pa na wala pang turbo. a/t din sya. nagkaroon na rin ng problema ang tranny before pero madali naayos. rust? wala pa naman. matibay considering maraming beses na tumama ang front end. hindi pa nag overheat kahit minsan. lakas pa rin ng a/c. medyo mabagal nga lang at mahina sa akyatan. ride is the best.

    Sir, i drive the same car also with A/T, tanong ko lang kung anong naging problema sa tranny mo at pano na resolve so i could avoid it. Do you regularly change your atf? Thanks
