A Lexus IS350 F-Sport looks more stunning than the ugly new C200, has a much better engine, and is cheaper too.

Obviously the MB badge still has more gravitas, but Lexus is holding its own as well.

A 5-series/E-Class is miles classier than a GS though.

^^^ Does the Audi R8 V10 or Mercedes SLS count as something to match Toyota/Lexus LFA?

The IS350F Sport did win in a C/D comparison against the 2013 BMW 335i and Cadillac ATS 3.6. More affordable yet packed with goodies.

With the coming of the new GS-F, not sure how it will fare against the super-sedans - BMW M5, Audi RS6/RS7, and Mercedes E63 AMG. Audi's S6/S7 lineup is quite formidable and are tuned just a tad softer than its RS6/RS7 brothers. The Americans have just notched up the ante in the super sedan competition with the more affordable (less than 100k USD) yet insane Dodge Charger Hellcat (707hp) and Cadillac CTS-V (640hp).

For something like 3M, the Lexus IS350F Sport is the best car that money can buy locally (300hp, high-revving V6 NA engine, RWD, track-ready, plush seats, creature comforts, etc). You get the luxury of a Lexus yet the performance capability similar to its German counterparts which would cost you almost 5M.

The only Lexii you could append that image to, in the past, were the ES, RX and the Landcru-... errh... LX.

They've updated the RX, the ES now features more differentiation from the Camry than before, and the LX... well... it's still a very posh Cruiser... ...but seeing as how VAG does the same thing with the Touareg, Q7 and Cayenne... albeit with more differentiation... that's not as big a deal, anymore.

The IS, GS and LS have always been their own cars. And reasonably good cars... just not very exciting ones in the past. Nowadays, they're up with the big boys.

Would I buy a Lexus in favor of more established Euro brands (i.e. Mercedes Benz and BMW)? When this thread just started, my answer would be probably, but after 3 years of this thread's existence my answer now is definitely. I've had enough of these Euro cars, we bought an E90 318i in 2012 and guess what? The car literally broke down with just around 460km on it. Yes, it was fixed under BMW's 2 year warranty. But it suffered yet another electrical nightmare with just barely 2,000km on it. We got so fed up with it that we sold it at a HUGE loss just to regain our sanity. Not to mention that this was one of the worst riding cars we have ever owned (think sitting at the back of an L300 van without any other loads with the tire pressure maxed out)

Somehow I really like the current ES350, while I agree that its just a dressed up Camry, but because of that, it is more practical since some parts can be bought in Banawe or even the neighborhood auto supply. Specially for me since I try to avoid the CASA like a plague, I just let our mechanics in the office do the minor stuff like change oil, tune up, brake pads and etc. since they are competent enough.
