September 19th, 2014 12:01 PM #13the jimy is a real capable mini suv the others are just posers- it can climb it can ford- no b.s.
the jimny consumes more fuel due to it's boxy shape, but it's engine is bullet proof same with the tranny, the only con is- too small and it doesn't have an abs PLUS EXPENSIVE

That's assuming you need an SUV for climbing and fording. Most people just want a car with increased ride height and durable suspension for our harsh roads and weather.
The Jimny offers that but with a lot of tradeoffs that just aren't worth it for the majority.
It has always been a niche car and will always be a niche car.

That figure is right. The jimny is my daily driven car. I average around 200kms per week with it and fills around 35li of fuel every saturday. The past few weeks, everyday ako nagpupunta sa site na puro highway, nakaka 250-260kms naman ako. Around 38liters naman ang consumed gas.

The automatic EcoSport is more fuel efficient than the manual Jimny in city traffic. Don't even ask about the automatic Jimny. Even in 2WD high mode, the Jimny's poor aerodynamics and heavy solid axles and drivetrain suck gas like there's no tomorrow.
The EcoSport isn't that great on the highway... aerodynamic tweaking can't overcome the negatives caused by the big frontal area and short body (short bodies are bad for aerodynamics... which is why the Mirage has better aero than all the other super-minis... it's longer)... but it's still a lot better than the Jimny.
Neither are what you would call fast... but at least you could call the EcoSport acceptable. The Jimny has short gears, which helps, but once above walking pace, no power is no power.
If you're getting a car to use around town, the EcoSport is okay. Get the manual transmission Trend and it's not too expensive either. Great front seats... lots of space. Rear seats not small or big... just... okay. Definitely a nice car if you're single and don't need to carry more than three passengers.
The Jimny is a crude, underpowered, rough riding, gas-guzzling tiny car... but it's a lot of fun, and flood-proofing is just 15-20k worth of snorkel away. Heck, even completely stock with the stock sucky Dueler HT tires, it can go places more expensive SUVs would get stuck at.
The EcoSport can't. The ride height is good for modest dirt running, but no AWD, no locking differentials or limited slip differential... the only way you're getting through any deep mud puddles is with a running start. And I'd be wary of getting anywhere near the 550 mm wading depth... the engine sits very low in the engine bay, and the ancilliaries are not high mounted like on the Jimny.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Wow and I thought the jimny will be the overwhelming choice for this comparison, I just posted it just to get re assurance from the tsikoteer community..malaki rin pala ang cons ni jimny...
Actually if ever,Im planning to keep this for a very long time like more than a decade, hence the fixability after the warranty is a big factor...and with this weather we're having, it seems floods will be a frequent occurence...

I got it from lazada. I've seen only 3 pounders at mall hardware stores kaya pinatos ko na ito...
