You mean the baddest-ass FD Civic you can get?
Look no further than the FD2 Mugen Civic RR. As the name indicates this is a FD2 Civic Type R further tuned by the tuning house Mugen.
It's perhaps the fastest non-turbo FWD road car in production, roundly capable of outgunning the just-as-powerful S2000 as evidenced in "Fifth Gear."
Only trouble is there were only 300 built, and all in RHD.

July 27th, 2009 10:56 AM #24Try to consider Ford Focus TDCI, 6 speed manual. Am sure that will smoke out and leave behind those two popular cars you mentioned on the highway or drag strip. It all depends sometimes on the driver who can drive faster.

Speaking of "kuya". For me, as of now, the kuya of the CIVIC is the MUGEN RR ADVANCED CONCEPT. (*_*)

almost everything is CARBON FIBER parts already. it had beaten the times of MUGEN RR and HONDA TYPE R on TSUKUBA RACING CIRCUIT. )

The top speed of a manual transmission 2.0 Lancer is around 207 km/h. Even with 152 hp, it's limited to that due to the large frontal area compared to older cars.
Every 10% gain in speed requires approximately 33% more power.
My Lynx and GH's Sentra both top out around 220-225... but we're both making 30-40 hp more than stock... our stock engines top out at 207-210...
For comparison... there's a Focus TDCi that tops out at about 240 km/h. That's 30 km/h more than the stock 210 limit. But he's putting out around 220+ horses... or around 180 horses to the wheels...
To get to 230 km/h, a stock Lancer 2.0 will require at least 200 bhp. And no, having driven it... it does not have that much... and it's dubious that you can get that much out of the Lancer engine without turbocharging or rebuilding the internals.

I dont see the reason why a CVT Lancer will lose to a conventional auto of the Civic even if it has 5 speeds.

It really depends... depends on the gear ratios of the 5-speed and the weight / aerodynamics of the two cars... Honda's 5-speeds have very tight 1-2-3 ratios, which make for great low-end acceleration... but their 4-5 ratios are very long... some reviewers complain, in fact, that 3rd gear is too long on some Honda boxes.
Still can't get around the weight and drag factor... the Mitsubishi weighs more and is bigger than the slippery Civic.
It would be a fun race to watch.

But the Lancer's CVT doesnt even have ratios or gear spaces. If you look deep into it, parang 1 speed lang sya. Mash the pedal and GO! Certain RPM has an appropriate speed (if you leave it to "Drive"). Meaning like say for example, if its redline is say, 7000rpm and 7000rpm is good for 210kph then mashing the accelerator to 7000rpm and holding it for a time, it will call for 210kph. If 3500 is good for just 130kph, it will not go further than 130kph at 3500rpm and so on. Unlike a conventional matic of the Civic that will go thru 5 speeds to get to its top speed.
Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
