Corolla GLI 1994 (Common Problems???

I found a Corolla GLI 1994 stock condition .. used as commuter car from house to office .. The exterior is still in good condition, still in original paint not washover .. interior is good also ..

Given the age of the car (1994) of 21 years already and being an EFI engine, what are the common problems of cars this old ??? How to know if such problems are present ??

What are the problems of the EFI engine when the car is 20 years old ???

mileage is 230k .. is it a little too high for a 21year old car or the mileage is consistent with the year (meaning odometer not tampered) ???

1. possible engine overhaul in the near (nearest future), so alagaan mo sa change oil at radiator water - you need to check it every now and then. - more or less 20k

2. possible replacement of under chassis parts - minor only, mura din like the 555 brand, pero madami at in pair kung magpapalit - more or less mga 8k parts and labor, kung isasama shocks mga 14k.

3. rubbers and hoses - yan sa radiator observe lang cheapest.

hindi pa daw na galaw yung engine .. how to look if na open na dati yung engine ???

normal wear and tear lng naan yung rubbers, hoses & underchassis parts ..

importante sakin is hindi magloloko yung engine given na EFI cya ... hindi ba basta-basta nasisira yung ECU, fuel injector, map sensor, O2 sensor, etc ...?????

2e carburetor kasi dati kong kotse, spark plugs, change oil, carburetor spray, fuel & air filter lang ang maintenance ko ... hindi masakit sa ulo, hindi rin masakit sa bulsa ...

We had a 1996 Gli with 160k on the odo sold last year. Wala naman akong naging issue sa electronics since year 2000 when I got the unit with 36k kms.
We have another old corolla model year 2000 (same 4afe engine) that already has 210K+ km on the odo (47K km when I bought it 10 yrs ago) and di pa din nabubuksan engine. It's my weekday car (56km/day)and it still gives good fuel economy.

I have that car at 255k odo, feeling ko diko na mabibitawan to dahil sa pinagsamahan namin, hehe. Come to think of it buong teenage at twenties years ko pala yun.

Ang alam ko'ng common problem nya is the power steering unit/assembly, yung nagleleak.

No problems with the engine basta like mentioned alaga sa maintenance including its cooling system. Sorry diko alam pano masabi kung nabuksan na engine or not.

well kung daily driven car yan, not bad kasi lumalabas 10,900 kms per year lang siya, medyo mababa pa nga. yung vios ko march 2015 ko nakuha pero ang odometer ko na ngayon is 34000 kms (more or less 17,000 kms per year ako).

bakit good - kasi ibig sabihin well taken cared of ng may ari iyan.
bakit bad - well, surely, sooner or later sayo aabutin ng overhaul iyan.

sa EFI (electronics), wla naman gaano or naging problema - ung civic ko na ek 97 wala naman ako problema sa electronics as of this moment (kung emron man, siguradong may Check Engine Light). mga pinalitan ko lang speed sensor, may time na MAF Sensor. wala nang iba.

mas mamoblema ka ka pa nga kung malikot dating may ari at kung ano anong electrical dinagdag sa kotse kasi siyempre, mahirap magtrace ng wiring. pero syempre easy fix din siya.

When I got the 2000 gli last 2005 at 47k km and this car was the registered car on my company gas card. The 1996 gli, then at 120k km became my wife's daily car. Her ofc is 15km round trip only and mine is 56km round trip. And we use the 2000 gli on weekends so nahabol at nalagpasan nya na yung 1996 gli. I had the 96 gli top overhauled around 100k km because of valve seal leak. Around 7k lang nagastos with oem parts so hindi din mahal. When we sold the 96 last year, all electical was working, power lock, windows, alarm was still the oem alarm, but the speedometer and odo was already having problems. Inaccurate na. 100kph was registering 60km only and rpm was like half of actual. I intend to replace them with surplus but may biglang bumili kaya di ko na napalitan. Around 6k lang yun sa surplus when I was checking last year.
