I'd go for Fluke or Sanwa because of better parts availability and aftersales support, than the disposable Uni-T.

are these now made in china, along with all the perceived, right or wrong, qualities therein?

when our made-in-usa (now-vintage) multitester finally conked out after over a decade of (ab)use, we got a then-made-in-japan sanwa.
when the interest waned, so did the instrument. (i am still wondering, which among my brothers, squirreled it away? heh heh.)
i now use the cheap small china-made multitester that i got from shoomart for less than five hundring bucks, for my ordinary needs. bulb... battery... shorts... opens...

obviously, ibang crossover ang pinag-uusapan...
