The Chevy Aveo is known in Korea as the Daewoo Kalos.

This is the Korean domestic market Daewoo Kalos

This is the new Daewoo/Chevy Matiz (aka Chevy Spark)

The Daewoo brand is now mainly for the Korean domestic market, export market models are now badged under different GM brands, the most common being Chevrolet. Daewoo is now part of GM (GM Daewoo Auto & Technology)
Most GMDAT cars are made by Daewoo in Korea. The ASEAN market Optra is made in GM's Thailand plant. New GMDAT models like the Captiva SUV use "global" GM platforms.
GMDAT was given the task to develop the next gen "global" sub-compact GM platforms(Aveo, Kalos, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa), while Holden will handle the development of the large RWD GM platforms.

Daewoos also get sold as Suzukis in the U.S.

Why Suzuki doesn't just sell their own (and nice) cars is still a mystery to the U.S. motoring press. Some even had good things to say about the Swift when they got a chance to drive the little hatches.

They will soon with the all-new Suzuki-Fiat developed Suzuki SX4 hatchback / crossover-SUV models...

Most GMDAT sourced Suzuki models are stop gap models...
The GMDAT developed Suzuki Forenza(aka Chevy Optra) is actually outselling Suzuki's own (more expensive)Aerio which will be phased out soon.
Initially Suzuki doesn't make any mid-size sedan, so for now they are selling the Daewoo developed Verona(Chevy Epica/Daewoo Magnus).

Expect all-new compact and mid-size Suzuki developed models to replace the current GMDAT models.
Suzuki recently bought back 17% of its 20% share from GM.
GM still retains a 3% stake in Suzuki.

The SX4 is more road oriented... Sort of like the Toyota Matrix and Dodge Caliber.

The production version of the Chevy S3X is the Chevy Captiva, it uses GM's Theta SUV platform.

the SX4 sortof replaces the Suzuki's unloved Aerio sedan and hatch.

btw, the Aveo was design by Giugaro (tama ba spelling?) basta italian designer who once designed Ferraris too.

Anyway, for those wondering, the 2 vehicles are unrelated.
The compact Suzuki SX4 hatchback/crossover SUV is a joint venture between Suzuki and Fiat, while the larger Chevy S3X which is now called the Captiva is based on GM's Theta platform.
The Captiva is about the same size as the all-new Rav4.
