Part of the reason why Porsche omitted 4WD in their GT models is weight saving. However, the 911 GT2 was criticized to be not as agile as its 4WD Turbo sibling despite being faster. The latter was a hell of a car, with nearly the same performance as the Gallardo but only at a fraction of its price.
Going back to the topic, BMW is continuously exerting its effort in designing flagship cars that bridge the gap between everyday luxury driving and unadulterated supercar performance and handling. The M5's only major weaknesses are fading brakes and thirst.
As for Nissan, the special 500 hp Skyline only had 20 copies, which I believe have all been sold already. And besides, an R35 successor is now in the pipeline. Whether or not this will revive the fading trend of Japanese supercars remains to be seen. The NSX will likely not be replaced anymore, but a mid-engined 500+ hp Toyota supercar and a new RX-7 might just come out.

the nismo GT-R Z-Tune is only 20 copies, and based on already used GT-Rs. what nismo did was buy 20 GT-Rs with less than 18K kms (or 20K ata) and used them as base cars. that's one "second-hand" car i wouldn't mind owning. :D
makahanap na nga muna ng 1/24 version niya from tamiya. heheheh.

M5 na... like they say "fastest saloon car on the planet" nga. But i wouldn't say no to a Nismo R34 either...

given a helluva lot of cash...
but then, since no other "production" car can even get close to the Z-Tune's 10-second quarter mile, I'd say it's worth every penny.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

squala: true, daming cash involved diyan :D after all, most parts are GT500-spec and andaming structural load-bearing CF parts.
conservative nga 1/4 mile ng z-tune. sabi ng nismo eh 400m dash is just a small tick over 10secs. of course, they also conservatively rated it to 500hp and ~400 kg/m torque (correct me if i'm wrong sa torque figure).

here's something crazy - a dealership in the US is selling the #2 spot in line on ebay. take note - they are not selling the car itself, only the privilege of being the second person to buy the M5 when BMW starts shipping.
as i write this the high bid is over $30k...add to that the purchase price of about $90k for the car itself and you can be the first kid on the block with an M5.
