may mga automatic na pwede mo gawing parang manual, example gaya nung sinabi mo na steady lang siya sa 2000rpm pero di na nagshishift up, instead of stepping on sa gas harder, bitawan mo then tapakan mo ulit. nagshishift up siya pero press on harder ng biglaan, magdodownshift naman.
Start with M/T and master it for about say 2 yrs.
After that, its your choice, but just start w/ M/T.
If u dont know MT, u really dont know how to drive.
Sometimes u dont have a choice. The car u really like might only be on M/T(ex. Getz CRDi) or only A/T(like Mazda3).
D1 - locks the transmission in 1st gear D2 - 2nd gear D3 -3rd gear and so on...
you use this to match your requirement ... towing...engine brake...climbing.
When the driver wants maximum acceleration, floorboarding the accelerator
pedal will force a downshift.

I have been driving a manual transmission since I got my own first car in 1977. And since then, almost every 5-7 years I change cars and all were manual tranny. Our first automatic tranny is a 2003 isuzu crosswind xuv which is my wife's main vehicle. All through my driving years, I was an aggressive driver and feels fulfilled being able to drive relatively fast.
But all these had changed when I got my 3.2 strada A/T recently. Apparently, age had caught up with meand made me decide to get an automatic. Talaga atang ganyan pag medyo lumalabo na mata mo, you wear out more easily, at me feeling ka na ng complacency. I became a milder driver, more careful in maneuvering, very much like a sunday driver. Traversing the metro manila traffic is much easier now. Di masyado nakakapagod.
But there still are times when I long for the control that I get and aggression that I feel when driving the manual transmission. So I alternate my ride with my manual honda civic and crv.
So in my case, when I was young and aggressive, the manual transmission fits me well, and as I grow older (ouch!) I yearn for a more relaxing ride, hence an automatic. But you may ask, bakit strada? Actually, pang-cover-up lang yun, feeling young, kung baga hehehe.
However, sa tingin ko nasa transition pa ako, kasi I still look for my manual rides. Probably, in years to come, balik ako sa manual, but this time me driver na ako, hahaha. O di ba, voice command na lang ang driving.![]()
Correct me please if I am wrong..pero went I went sa US ..mas lamang or majority of Vehicles (Big and Small) na nakikita ko are usually A/T. Unlike in our country na medyo mabibilang mo.
I also used to like M/T..expecially when you have a lot of people around you who are none beleivers of A/T...but slowly..especially after I started working and was able to drive a couple of A/T vehicles..both LHD and RHD....I started to have a paradigm shift...and hence got myself an A/T. I find it so convenient to drive in A/T..especially in the Middle east..dagdagan mo pa ng cruise control.![]()
Personally I like the MT because i get more mileage. But if i am going
to do any towing i will get an AT.
When i can afford a truck, it will be in AT.![]()
Hi sir donT, sa US, novelty ang manual transmission. Most people there prefer an automatic kasi panay long drives and freeways. Observation ko lang yan.
YESmaganda talaga yon Strada AT wala ako masabi sobra.
sana lahat ng AT ganoon response.
Share ko lang experience ko sa AT.
chevy 3 speed at - weird
suzuki esteem 4at - pleasant
strada at - galing ng technology talaga![]()
CVT for me best of both worlds talaga. sana mawawala na mga AT na gears. CVT na dapat ilagay lahat sa mga AT cars. CVT is not AT, for me, siguro mas tama if sasabihing CVT is parang AT. wala kasing gears ang CVT compared to standard AT so yun. for me lang ha
Automatic transmissions shift smoothly and early when you lightly step on the accelerator. When you step harder, the transmission "cable" tells the transmission to shift later due to more fuel input, which means higher RPM, and later shifting. This later shifting is also felt more.
So if you want to feel how many gears or what gear you're in, from a standing start step on it hard and count the number of times it shifts. Note that if you have, say, a four-speed automatic, and it starts in first gear (some transmissions start in second to save on fuel), then you should feel three shifts. If it's a three-speed automatic, you'll feel two shifts. This pattern should be consistent.
If you're cruising at a constant speed and you're barely stepping on the pedal, then you're in top gear. If you floor it, it will downshift and give maximum acceleration.
On CVT transmissions, I think it's possible to downshift multiple times depending on throttle input - and that makes it fun! However I don't like the way it feels "synthetic" or maybe it's just me. Other than that, CVT is good enough for me.
Automatics are great with cruise control and driving long distances. CVT, for me, is great in the city and gives the car a zippy character.
basta para sa akin pag city driving e gusto ko AT tapos pag hiway driving ay AT.. hehe... sakit sa paa kasi magka clutch sa city pero sa hiway sarap naman mag clutch..ewan ko ba.... sana may ganung sasakyan.. though AT ay may clutch pedal pa rin tapos pag gusto ng AT ay pumapasok sa loob yung clutch pedal.. prang nagta transform ba... hehe.. ok yun... porma nun... it can fit any driver who wants MT or AT...
AT is the best for me since i use my car primarily in city driving. di bale na mas magastos sa gas at least hindi masyado mainit ulo kapag traffic.![]()
Its confusing sometimes when you have cars na m/t and a/t. Sometimes, i start the m/t only pressing the brake, or sometimes without pressing anything, and it's in first gear. And sometimes in the a/t i think of the pedal parking brake as a clutch coz its located to the right of the brake, so yun habang tumatakbo, biglang tapak sa parking brake.
Actually, this is true. And this is a cause of a number of accidents. Especially, pag may nakabuntot sa yo. Blag!!! sapol ang rear mo. In this case, kasalanan pa rin ng driver na nasa likod, imo.
It really takes time to get used to mix driving if you have both manual and automatic tranny as your ride. But eventually, masasanay ka rin. Just up your level of awareness to the kind of tranny that you are driving at a particular moment. And I'm talking from experience.
correction to my last post. the pedal parking brake is to the left of the brake. exactly the position of the clutch.
My first car is an A/T. I could drive M/T pero nanibago ako when i drove my car as in naghahanap ang paa ko ng clutchpero i think A/T is much better all around less hassle sa pag change ng gears and everything, yung bang relax paa mo if its a long drive pero ngawit naman pag sobrang tagal, i once had pins and needles on my right foot, dahil naka tapak sa accelarator for so long
anyway i would say A/T nalang i mean it does what M/T meant to do pero minus clutching lang.

kahit anung gawin mas marami pa ring advantages ang M/T over A/T lalo na sa maintenance and itatagal ng car. panalo ang M/T!
