Even though A/T does shift for you, modern ECM/PCM allows the driver to influence the shifting progression or characteristics. Whether it be in the way the gas pedal is depressed, or a mode button to tell the computer to either shift for economy or performance.

If I was into motorsports, manual tranny or DSG, hands down. For everything else, it's A/T. I'd like the advantage of having a free hand available for more important tasks with the lady passengers. :D
