Hello Knight-rider, How did you install your rear speaker? Meron kbang speaker bracket or nandoon lang siya nakalatag sa carpet? Also did you replace the speakers in the front with something better? Sayang kasi ang sounds ng alto. It uses a JVC system with 20W rms per channel with 4 channels but they used very poor quality speakers in front and none at the rear.
I found myself using the Alto more and more. Napakadaling gamitin kasi. Whenever I have short errands, I find it very convenient to use the Alto.
In fact Lui was here in the office today. We were talking about buying another starex pro for the office and I was considering an outlander for next year pero eventually sa alto nauwi ang usapan namin. Nakakatuwa rin talaga ang alto. It has its own charms. I have to admit that the Getz and the Picanto looks better pero the alto has its own beauty.
One time I brought the Alto in my MBA class and pinagkaguluhan ng mga classmates ko. Buti pa ang alto napansin. My other cars that cost 7 times more, walang pumapansin.

    Hello guys!
My family now owns a Suzuki Alto & Yes i have to agree w/ you na pinagkakaguluhan nga ung auto. It's a cute car parang TOY CAR. It's so fun to drive at lahat ng tight corners kaya! Reminds me of the Movie Italian Job... I could get out of a traffic jam using the Alto..magaling sa singitan!

Super tipid pa sa Fuel. Of course you don't expect much power w/ this car though pero it's a practical car to own..good for short errands like going to the supermarket, hatid sa school ganun...

Kids love my Alto...parang Matchbox daw

    hi mon!

The 4-way speakers were mounted lng sa carpet i dont know how the store service crew where i bought them did it binutasan lng un board.

    God Bless!

Hi all, I'm a new member here sa forums - I found you guys cos I was searching for info about the alto. I'd like to commend you all for providing very informative and relevant real-world reviews that really helps people to decide on whether or not to buy the car.

I drive a 2dr 1979 toyota corona with an 18r engine, it's well maintained but really consumes a lot of gas - it only averages at 5kms/liter at city driving. I'm also very interested to buy an alto for my wife - and as a second car.

I will visit a dealership soon but big thanks to all the great reviews here cos at this point, I'm already decided on getting one... it's just a matter of when. :D

The current Alto being sold here is behind by one generation. Suzuki still sells first Generation Vitaras and jeep-like Samurais in other markets, too.

Mga Sirs...I would just like to ask. Kasi diba po ang Suzuki Alto is a front wheel drive so pagnasa incline like going up hill, medyo hirap ng konti. I was able to manage the problem by stepping on the Accelerator pedal ( naka 1st gear ) tapos bilisan lang ng konti.... kaya naman. Ang sabi po ng Tito ko yung differential kasi ang kulang..tama po ba? Kasi nga naman kung ang Alto is a rear wheel drive hindi sana hirap sa pag-akyat. HP kasi lang din ng Alto is 47. Does having low HP contribute to this problem? Puwede rin bang pa-increase the HP ng Alto? Hope you enlighten me regarding this. Thank you!

Being front wheel drive has nothing to do with being 'hirap' sa akyatan. It's a local folk tale of manong drivers. I don't know who invented it. I don't know why it's still here.

The ability to climb a gradient is determined by engine power and gearing. In addition, front wheel drive cars will in theory, have more traction than rear wheel drive vehicles because most of the vehicle weight is on the driven wheels.

Even front wheel drive cars have differentials (it's in the front). Otherwise, the vehicle will not be able to turn corners. The outside wheel needs to roll faster than the inside wheel in order to make the turn. A differential is what allows it to do that (speed differential, get it? ).

If you're uncle is middle aged already, don't bother trying to explain, baka mag-away lang kayo. hehehe.

I regularly bring my alto going up to Antipolo. Ok naman siya. Easily you can travel 40kph on second gear going up. But like many small cars (Picantos, Altos, Sparks and Getzs except probably the Getz CRDi) , I think you
will be asking too much if you decide to overtake uphill. Kaya, pero galit na galit ang makina specially if the curves are short and you are overtaking a truck.
If you want to increase the HP of your Alto, there is a website discussing suzuki alto tuning. Pero looking at what they did, you might not want to do it with your brand new alto.

Well my Tito is already near his 60's so medyo manong na nga siya!
You're right OTEP...if I'll share this to my Tito for sure debate ng walang katapusan ito..

Thank you for your brief explanation!

    Hi Monmendoza,
Yes w/ the Alto having barely 800cc & 47hp...i shouldn't be asking too much. Kaya nga ng Alto ang going uphill pero as what you've said, galit na galit na ang makina..it's expected naman talaga esp w/ the small cars.
Anyway, I wouldn't want to increase the hp of my Alto esp it's still brand new. I was able to ask w/ Suzuki Motors Quezon Ave & yes puwede pero masasayang ang warranty...
Thank you for sharing your opinion!

Sayang pa kasi iyong chattel mortgage which this car would go to about 10K more. pero alam ko pag financing you can go as low as 10% down right now so basically P36K. Safe na siguro if you allot 50K for your downpayment. Most Bank Financing offers more or less the same rate, . Since wala pa silang binibigay na discount, might as well ask quotations from all the suzuki dealers. Tell them how much downpayment you want to pay and how many years you want to pay the balance. Typical multiplying factor for 1 year to pay is 1.08. for 2 years it is 1.189 it goes progressively higher as you pay longer. I think you can choose up to 6 years to pay. BTW if you are monitoring the Cherry Tread (Iseway motors) in Cars forum, This July1 they will release the Chery QQ which according to the grapevine will be price approximately 250K (no confirmation on the price, tsismis lang ito ). If you are not in a hurry, it might be better to wait for the release of the QQ. The QQ looks more modern than the Alto but has no track record yet because it is made in China. Initial feedback is that quality is not so good but it looks attractive. Personally, I decided not to wait for it because, I feel that the Alto will have lesser headaches than the QQ plus dealership support is more widespread. I don't want to go to Makati just to have a budget car serviced.
Judging from the performance of motorcycles made in china, They look good, perform well but they breakdown more often than the equivalent hondas. "Madaling Masira" is the most common comments of those who buy China made motorcycles. Of course, they usually add the fact also that spare parts are available and quite cheap.
    Hi Sir Monmendoza,

Would you know if they still offer 10% downpayment until now? I'm planning to get an Alto din with really low dp kasi I'm also saving for my wedding.

    "Bondurant's Basics: Front Vs. Rear

...as soon as the road begins to go uphill, the rear-wheel-drive car will have an advantage. Think of the weight transfer. For example, as the car goes up, weight shifts back and onto the rear tires, giving them more traction.

Unfortunately, the front-wheel-driver will lose traction as the weight shifts toward the rear. This is magnified as you attempt to accelerate, as even more weight shifts off the front tires...

Pure B.S... I actually expected better of Bob...

Whichever end of the car has more weight has more traction.

When a car is going uphill, the weight of the car is not only pushing on the rear wheels, it is also pushing into the front wheels as well.

Go to a parking garage and see for yourself... cars that lose traction most easily on the steep inclines are pick-up trucks. Why, with 2 tons of weight pushing on the tires, do they have problems going up a slope?

Simple, it's because nearly 3/4th of that weight is pushing down on the front tires, which makes traction iffy going uphill (I should know, I've almost been creamed once or twice by a truck sliding on the parking ramp). I have never seen a front wheel drive car have as much of a problem with SM's parking ramp (when it's wet) as I've seen trucks and some big rear-wheel drive sedans.

With a front-wheel drive car, the weight of the engine pushes the front tires into the slope... giving you great traction.

Most rear wheel drive cars have problems with slopes and slippery surfaces. One notable exception is the Porsche 911, which has the weight of the engine almost square over the rear tires. One little known fact is that 911s have great traction in slippery conditions... it's just steering that's a problem...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Fyi guys! Heads up!

The KIA Picanto won the BEST SUB-COMPACT CAR OF THE YEAR award at the recently concluded COTY (Car of the Year) Awards '07, based on evaluations and tests made by the majority of Philippine Motoring Journalists. Nice!

Other KIA winners were: KIA Carnival - "Executive Van" & MPV of the year, KIA Carens - Compact Van/MPV of the year, KIA Rio - Executive Sub-Compact car of the year!

It was in the newspapers sometime last week of November.
