Alto vs. Picanto vs. Getz

The KIA Picanto won the BEST SUB-COMPACT CAR OF THE YEAR award at the recently concluded COTY (Car of the Year) Awards '07, based on evaluations and tests made by the majority of Philippine Motoring Journalists. Nice!

Other KIA winners were: KIA Carnival - "Executive Van" & MPV of the year, KIA Carens - Compact Van/MPV of the year, KIA Rio - Executive Sub-Compact car of the year!

It was in the newspapers sometime last week of November.

so any news on the spoiler for the alto? I went to suzuki and they say they can order it but the cost would be around 8 to 10k.... Saan kaya sa banawe may nagbebentang spoiler na pang alto?

Getz CRDI for me. But the 200K difference from the Alto will make me think twice.

The windshield cracked from a flying stone. Not the fault of the Car Manufacturer though. I wanted to replace it myself without having to go to the insurance but the cost is 8K replacement + 8K labor( mahal nang labor sa casa) .Medyo matagal nang di nagagamit ang alto namin. Still waiting for the insurance approval.

But after 6 months, Okay na okay pa rin iyong alto. Still getting 15-16 kms/liter average city driving. I also availed of the free 5000kms checkup. So far, very cheap to maintain ang alto.

here is my new baby..... i just took her home yesterday...

so far matipid nga sa gas, 15 to17 km/liter.....

would the alto be cheaper to maintain compared to the picanto in the long run? I notice that suzuki parts costs more e.g. vitara, esteem etc.., compared to kia's and other japanes cars.

That's Suzuki parts for more uncommon cars. I think Alto parts should be quite a bit cheaper if it shares engine blocks with the SuperCarry (I'm not sure it does, though).

i think the parts would be the same but not more expensive than the getz or picanto. Since ownership cost of the alto is much cheaper but unlike the getz and picanto, the alto is not yet widespread. So parts might cost a bit higher than india. But they say that monthly in india there are hundreds of alto being produce that is why parts will not be a problem.

Hi,

I was really looking to get an Alto but in the end I got the GETZ 1.1. The Alto seems to be a nice fuel efficient car but sadly the interior was really too small for me. The Getz fits me right as it is said to be fuel efficient plus I get a roomier interior. No regrets for me...

thats a nice mileage on the getz..... my neighbor who owns a 2007 model i guess has a mileage of 15 to 16km/liter on a week trip on an average of 50 to 80km a day.... city driving...


my alto i think averages the same, kaya lang di ko masyado magamit pa kasi wala pang plate number.... twice na kasi ako nasita sa checkpoint kaya di ko na muna ginagamit...

thats a nice choice sir..... yung getz din ang first choice ko when i am still scouting for a car last April... Maporma siya at malaki ang interior.... kaya lang di talaga kinaya ng budget ko since may hinuhulugan pa ako na condominium so sa alto din ako nauwi.... pero ok lang din, a car is still a car... siguro next time nalang after ilang years kung makakapag-ipon ng madami-dami i will still want to buy the Getz.....

by the way sir, sa may banawe try looking for Goldrich, they sell accessories for the Getz... mga 10thousand lang makakakuha ka na ng spoiler at foglamps... just insist for the original foglamps ng getz yung nakabox pa na hyundai huwag niyo kunin yung taiwan made, yung sa spoiler naman mas maganda yung dinidikit lang huwag niyo na pabutasan para di kalawangin getz niyo... sinamahan ko kasi yung neighbor namin doon, ganda na ng getz niya na black... nagpadagdag din siya ng speakers.... :clap1:

correct me if i am wrong, hopefully I am, was able to take a peek at the rear suspension of the alto, and it seems that its using short leaf spring suspensions, is it?

i noticed din before na parang jazz ang pag fold ng seats ng picanto that is why parang mas madaming cargo mailagay... ang alto almost the same lang din ang pagfold pero di mo siya maisagad na maihiga... medyo nakaangat lang ng konting konti... sa getz, di ko pa masyado nakita ang look pag nakafold ang rear seats.. di ko pa kasi nakikitang nafold yung seats ng neighbor ko yung getz niya...

ngek!!!! last december nagvisit din ako sa showroom ng kia nasa 490,000 palang with free LTO and comprehensive insurance.... Grabe, tinuloy talaga nila yung sinabi nilang increase... Kung sakaling hindi nag-increase ang getz plus with free LTO and comprehensive insurance, malamang mas bebenta ito kaysa sa picanto.
