Thanks for the inputs guys, ok tlaga tong site. Bale family car na rin kse kya I prefer a 2.0L big bodied car. Beyond budget ko na rin BMW ska mahal ata maintenance nun dahil sa brand. Cefiro nman masyado executive looking. Yung Galant VR6 97 kaya ok din ba?

To mbt: Malaki ba difference maintenance ng accord and corona? can you give me a more specific comparison when it comes to expenses to include na rin yun wear and tear?

To Chris d: how many kms ka ba per liter on a city driving dun sa accord mo?

    adlerharvey,

tinapon na namin yung records ng corona e, pero pareho naman silang very reliable. yung naalala kong pinapalitan sa corona mga usual lang, radiator overhaul, clutch, usual consumables. nag wear out din yung ibang suspension parts at engine support at muffler support yata, but this was already when the car was 7 or 8 or so years old. etc.

yung accord halos ganun din, mahal lang talaga pag may masira na unusual part. nasira yung speed sensor ng accord namin dati, mga 5,000 ata yung bago, but i snagged a salvaged one from a civic hatchback (identical naman) for 1,200 hehe.

mas makakamura ka talaga sa maintenance kung hindi ka sa casa magpapagawa or use aftermarket replacements where you can safely do so. for example, you can use aftermarket brake pads instead of OEM pads at a fraction of the cost. kahit yung mga piyesa na pang overhaul ng starter or stuff pwede nang generic parts ang gamitin (again, at a fraction of the cost).

PORMA-wise go for accord saka mataas padin ang resale value nya (for a 2.0L class)
MONEY-wise go for exsior... mura talaga mga part eh...

suggestion: since the choice ur having are both 2.0L then try look for a galant... but MANUAL transmission... astig din

Seriously, I had the pleasure to dive an Accord VTI a couple of years ago. It's a drivers car. But, like what nikko had mentioned above, the Exsior is a well built car. I think your decision should not only be based on technical specs and performance, but on your own taste and personal interests as well.

City+Highway driving sa Accord 95 A/T around 8-9km/l. May kasama nang hataw mode to na umaabot sa 160kph...

Maganda placing ng controls at ergonomics sa Accord, the interior is well done. Plus no rattles or squeaks anywhere on our car, no matter how rough the road is.

Suspension... para sa akin ok lang, maganda sya pang spirited/sporty driving. I like the bouncy suspension of our old car though... hehe (sira na kc shocks, gusto ko medyo soft yung ride)

Naalala ko tuloy one time sa C-5 I kinda flew over one of the bridges at 100kph and hit my head on the headliner... nde naman nag bottom out yung suspension, so plus rin yun.

I do notice pag full load yung car at mabigat yung likod mas maganda yung bounce, nde masyado matagtag(tama ba ung term?, hehe).

ang madali lang masira sa corona is its suspension bushings, the worst, wala kang mabibiling bushing na orig,if you want orig, then you have to get the whole suspension arm assy, pero ok lang din naman kahit replacement.matibay din naman suspension nya.

Corona is faster than Accord 2.0, as well as other 2-liter competitors bar the Galant VR. And having ABS not present in the others, this car also outmaneuvered them. The test has been conducted by an independent org and was witnessed by my cousin.

Personally, I prefer the Corona because of slightly better reliability and cheaper maintenance. Also, repair shops are more familiar with Toyotas than other Japanese brands. The Accord seems rather low, especially at the back, so most of these cars I see already look worn-out. The suspension of most Toyotas are designed to suit our bad roads, which is why they are slightly higher. This may affect performance and handling somehow, but with what I said above, who cares? Plus, 95 models already have an airbag (aside from ABS) which the other 2-liter cars didn't.

i have a 2.2L 96 accord vti, and it satisfies me everyday....i also had the chance to drive my friend's 95 exsior....its also a very good car, well built, but compared to the accord, mas mabagal sya at mas old looking, mas mataas ang dashboard compared to the accord so vision is impaired more sa corona....sa gear shifting mas feel ko sa accord, but in the corona, parang sa corolla, sure shift, ok naman. sa dashboard, mas maganda ko materials ng accord, di naman din masikip, same lang halos ng space sa corona. maporma ang corona, but i like the porma ng accord more, sleek....

overall, accord pa din ako, pero i would like an exsior as my alternative....

i haven't driven the accord but i can vouch for the corona. at 97,800 km it had only one major repair; nothing has been replaced except the radiator (we chose to replace it athough casa said it can also be remedied). muffler, suspension, and everything else are stock. in my experience, fuel efficiency is excellent (at one time over 10 km/liter in a paranaque-to-u.p.-and-back run). although i've heard different feedback (some say it's 1.6-efficient, others say it's same as other 2.0's). its 3S-FE engine was designed for efficiency (S=swirl). manual shifter and clutch pedal are heavy, but this is not a problem with the A/T. steering is a bit heavy too. i don't know how the accord drives.

the corona is smaller than the accord lengthwise and witdhwise. corona has the same witdh as '97 civic (or is 1 cm wider) as far as i can remember the specs.

    corona won't disappoint you.

I beg to differ on this though as the Accord 2.0 and the Nissan Altima are quite faster than the Corona 2.0 if you're talking about engine power, as on-paper specs and SOTP already puts the Alty and Accord ahead of the Corona. The Altima can easily keep up and run along with the Galant VR despite it's 4 cylinder set-up... The Corona's i've driven feel more like a Corolla in terms of acceleration zest.

The Corona does have an advantage in safety with the ABS and airbags set-up... all the Accord can offer you is a seatbelt, side impact beams, and a crumple zone. And this is enough to get me to buy the Corona if i we're in the situation.

Thanks for the very informative inputs guys. Based on over-all votes of contributors, it appears that Corona has the edge over Accord, 11-7 ata. On safety features, practicality (maintenance, gas, parts) and functionality it seems that Corona has the advantage. Performance, driver's convenience, resale value, durability and porma-wise, accord nman lamang. Im giving myself 2-3 weeks to finally decide and I just hope i could do it wisely. By the way, ung 2.0 b ng accord and 2.0 ng corona e pareho lng ng gas consumption? I've heard dn kse from others na mas mababa ata konti rona. Should I opt for 2.2 ng accord (vtec) how much is the difference sa gas consumption with that of the 2.0 (exi) ?

dont base your decision solely on the number of votes onthis thread hehe, its best to sit in the cars yourself and take both out for test drives
