That engine was built to last in remote places. Tried and tested and proven. 91 octane definitely is all it needs.

Kung kaya ng budget, okay din i baby sa Blaze euro6.
Longer shelf life (no ethanol stabilizer breakdown), okay sa longer full tank intervals ngayong pandenmic.
Less pollutants (less sulfur), okay sa mga anak natin.
Base models namin naka Blaze. Pansin na less ang baho ng exhaust.
Never ako gumamit ng Blaze, even with my turbo petrol cars. I don’t see any benefit running on higher-grade octane fuel. With our 95RON-rated vehicles, up to 97RON lang karga ko.
Even Motor Image does not recommend Blaze for Subaru vehicles. However, marami pa rin kumakarga thinking it will help in performance.

Yes those are obviously premium brands. And with regards to using a common engine, i don't think it's a problem as long as the outputs are decent while being reliable at the same time. It became op only because of that jpepa thing but belonging to the lc family could have something to do with that as well.
Also the pajero bk/ck used to share its engine with its cheaper previous generation peers but nobody called them ripoff lol. However that's probably because its way cheaper too.
Please educate me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think mine is air suspension. It’s the usual double wishbone independent suspension on the front and the 4-link one in the rear.
I can’t recall how it was when my BK was new, I got it 2008. But I feel that the Prado is a lot more stable, minimal vibration on small bumps and potholes with less impact on the rest of the vehicle. Gives me the feeling that the Prado is more well put-together, if that makes sense. Apologies if I can’t give a more technical response.
i use petron blaze.. and i rev my petrol cars past 4k rpm.. medyo heavy ang right foot ko eh.. hehe
one thing i noticed using petron blaze is less soot formation on the tail pipe..
dun sa 2nd hand kia picanto ko, when i bought it, meron soot sa tail pipe eh.. i cleaned it then continue to use petron xcs.. after few months may soot ulit..
same thing with my 2nd had mazda 3 skyactiv.. may soot din using xcs or xtra unleaded...
i cleaned the tail pipe again and switched to petron blaze.. ayun hindi nagkakaroon ng soot sa dulo ng tail pipe.. at less din yung "amoy" lalo na sa cold start..
and i get longer mileage using blaze.. kaya di na ako nagamit ng iba.. hehe

Like the bigger lc200, hindi ba kdss na din ang prado? Lol.
And compared to pajero bk, wow i guess that must be nice. We also have that but it's the 4m41 diesel. Plus the prado has nicer seats and the door pockets are very useful during out-of-town trips, unlike the bk which lacks them for the rear doors. The nvh levels are on a better level too.
Too bad it's just a bit overpriced for what it offers rofl.
Yes it has KDSS. Agree with you on the creature comforts of the BK.
On the price, I would say it’s relative. I got the gas version and for me it’s a step up from the BK which I think is almost 3M now, if I’m not mistaken. Now when you think of the other comps like the explorer, the evoltis, the cx9 and others, and what I was looking for in a vehicle, I would say it’s just about right. But that’s just me.
There's no more local pajero bks since it stopped production last year and the last one offered was the diesel. They axed the gas version years ago i believe but glad to know the prado is a step-up from it and honestly, it's more all-around than the bigger lc200. It really takes actual experience on owning them to make sentiments like this. Anyway, hope you're happy with the purchase. Sa susunod, some inputs naman from its performance hehe.
Yup, after the lockdown when I finally get to stretch it’s legs
I’d still want an LC200 at some point, or maybe the 300 series, but I don’t feel I’m compromising with the Prado. It’s a tank on its own, suits what my family and I need perfectly at this time and hopefully will be as durable and reliable as its legendary Kuya.
Yes naman it will be reliable, since it's also an lc after all hehehe. And due to their close price range (mostly for the diesel) with each other, even if the usual impression is to go for the bigger lc instead, there are still features that are unique to the prado; like flat folding 3rd row seats with power adjusts, rear back-up camera and opening tailgate glass. Plus for what its worth madami na rin yung v8 sa kalsada eh so may exclusivity factor yung lc150, which is a good thing if you don't want something na palasak.
