Di ko alam why people buy cars for the sake of flood fording. Want advice? Avoid flooded roads. Kasi kung nagkamali ka, kahit ano gawin mo, sasakit ang wallet at ang ulo mo. And even if you do make it across, think your underchassis is happy?
Besides, a few centimeters of "better water fording" is crap to rely on. Ever heard of a lifter?

I understand. However, relying on a few centimeters as "insurance" is a risky bet. I don't know why people would risk their car.. especially if it's over a million bucks. If in terms of ground clearance, the difference is 20mm. Of course, other things such as the placement of the intake should also be taken into consideration in water fording.

O halika sorrento wanna join us?

Guys I think we need to chill with this topic
The Sorento and the Montero are two different ways of building an SUV
These two are apples to oranges
For comparison, nobody compares the BMW X5 to the Toyota LC200
If they are taxed equally they will cost about the same, are about the same length and width, and have the same number of seats if the option is ticked in the X5. Even power the two are similar, 300hp from their diesels, albeit produced in a different manner(4.5 V8 vs 3.0 I6).
But guess what, they cater to different markets, the BMW X5 is a brilliant tarmac SUV with carlike manners on the road and adequate offroad ability. The LC200, while no slouch on the road is inferior to the X5, but is far superior in terms of offroading, water fording, and etc. abilities
And to relate this to the topic:
BMW X5 = Kia Sorento
Soft roader with great tarmac abilities and superior refinement. Made for city slickers who rarely go offroad
Mitsubishi Montero = Toyota LC200
Truck based SUV with superior offroad abilities. Made for people who need the offroad abilities and the durability of a truck

August 28th, 2013 05:21 PM #156Sir i think you will not use your 6x6 for uphill to farm to city driving and vice versa. We have jeepneys converted to 4x4s and costumized 4x4 izusu elfs for deep flood fording pero di namin ganagamit papuntang metro. For us monty and fort are enough for our daily driving routes..

Yes, i will not buy a 6x6 but only because it will not fit in my garage. When the time comes that i will need a REAL 4X4 i will buy a REAL 4X4. an LC70 pick up, or even an old beat up LC80. Even a old F150 lariat fits the bill. Or a new chevy colorado 2.8 or ford ranger 3.2 wildtrak, lifted an additional 4 inches maybe. AND, you know, something with creep mode and solid axles.
But definitely not some wannabe 4x4 that turns turtle at the least excuse, like a monty.

TS: as owner of both SUV and CUV(both crdi)...personally i like the CUV for city driving and daily use because of its size and FC ...but usually for weekend and provincial trips and assignments i prefer the SUV...IMO its not about budget coz your comparison is very close (in terms of price) and it seems within your budget but what will be the primary or secondary use for you then you know which one to buy.
