August 24th, 2013 07:13 PM #74Regarding my friend with the Montero, he was plain lucky his car didn't conk out when he forded that. Being a matic, there wasn't much pedal work involved, so I wouldn't be bowing down to his skills anytime soon.
I see the Montero seems to be your dream car.The Strada's not far off though. Wading depth is just as good and performance is somewhat better due to lesser weight. If you want, you can always change the front fascia, install fender flares and 17'' Montero mags...
As per the spec sheet, the Strada GLX dimensions check in at 5115mm length, 1750mm width and 1775mm height. That's longer than even the current Pajero, let alone the Gen 1 Pajero. The length takes some getting used to, though it should't be too much effort if you drive it on a daily basis. A backup camera would be a very welcome investment though, especially if you opt to install a canopy, which reduces rear visibility even more. With the tint on the rear window still on, rear visibility is basically zero!
Ours has the optional power rear window so I can get away with a little visibility still...

August 24th, 2013 08:28 PM #75driving a truck means checking your side mirrors especially upon making turns on those narrow side streets with tricycles parked on the dead corner. it takes a lot of getting used to it....i suggest you get a steering knob. the rewards are great though, 700 kms on a full tank of diesel (70 liters).
on flooded streets, if a city bus can make it so can i. shuttled 10 people from picc to our place via espana ave last sunday.
you just have to get used to the tagtag. if the joints hurt take the sedan on a good day, but the fuel bills come iam sure the truck will be the vehicle of choice.

Have you considered an Innova? It's diesel, higher ground clearance than a sedan, shorter than a pickup.

yes the Montero is my dream car. In white
We used to have a B22 pick up that I could drive. I wonder if the Strada is longer? I think I am leaning towards the Strada but I will wait for that test drive first. The Hilux E in red is nice din kasi. I plan on adding a campershell pero wag na lang. heheh.
I like the G innova but it is above my budget. Plus I would also prefer to have a vehicle that is "global" and not just for the Asian market. Also, wasn't there an issue with the D4D of innova?

Wala na yung D4D issue cat, tagal na nasolve nun. Mga first few batches lang ng innova nagkaron ng ganun

I believe Fire Engine Red (as in TV5 red) color is available for G variants only.
Apart from TV5, Meralco, and Red Cross, I don't see many private owners putting up a camper shell.
Camper Shell, 80's ang dating.
Diesel is better, as long as maintenance is followed.Last edited by number001; August 25th, 2013 at 12:44 AM.
Yung extra AUX Fan is useful sa mga naka montero. Mag improve daw yung AC system since may extra...
