I owned an '11 1.6V for five years and here are the issues which every long term owner more or less experienced with that gen corolla:

1) Ignition coils fail at 40k - 50k kms
2) replaced rack and pinion and drive column at 30k kms
3) oil sludge issue (should be ok if owner used fully synthetic oil and changed diligently)

It was a comfortable car that averaged 7-9 in the city and 10-12 in the highway. Make sure you check the above have been replaced already and also get the 2010 or later versions which have a dual vvti engine.
