eto, the sound of the boxer engine should be enough to convince everyone to go for the forester. :bwahaha:

Am not sure but just maybe when he plays billiards he kicks up his back leg too ala Efren Bata Reyes? :angel3:
For the U.S. based Tsikoteers: When Efren Bata Reyes was asked what he would buy after winning the world billards championship 2 years ago- he replied "a CRV". He forgot the brand was a Honda.
Taken from MRT Performance Australia:
If WRX is your dad,
then MRT has put a match to this Forester fire!
It’s still happening. School kids spending large portions of their lunch times mulling over the latest car mags. Their tongues flapping over the latest trick Subaru WRXs and high-tech rocketships that one-day they dream of owning. If you were a teacher on yard duty you’re more likely to hear the words WRX, Evo V and Nissan GT-R rather than the details of the fisticuffs on the oval between Joey and Billy.
But one name you’re unlikely to hear is Forester. The original 90kW WRX normally aspired small 4WD wagon wasn’t particularly awe-inspiring, but potential was the keyword with the GT model which had a de-tuned 125kW WRX EJ20T motor on board. But the Forester is a family car, not a sports car and doesn’t attract the interest of the performance-focused playground.
But then there’s Mr. Middleton. You may know him as three-time AustralianF2 Rally champion. Or you may know his business, MRT Performance, which has a habit of making cars go fast. Mr. Middleton had a customer who was a family man and liked the Forester GT. But he also liked performance in his vehicles, so he decided to have the Forester attended to by MRT. Here’s what he did, and how it ended up as a car that should have the whole playground buzzing.
The Forester was a totally new challenge. Packing so many modifications into what would still be a family vehicle would prove to be an interesting exercise... – a practical family vehicle but with lots more response when asked. Which is exactly what this GT does: plant the foot and it will virtually match a stock WRX is acceleration: that’s one to tell the kids about!
Be careful the when you next pull up at the lights in what you feel is a quick machine. While the Forester may feature three bickering kids in the back, a plain and standard appearance, as well as a concentrating father behind the wheel, that doesn’t mean to say that it can’t surprise.
And this is the older 2.0 Forester.
To sum it up:
Subaru is an enthusiasts car for enthusiasts who are not really concerned about resale value BUT who are performance oriented. Niche marketing sya with a specific market and it wasn't designed nor built to be a peoples car from the start.
CRV = What's so fun about FWD biased "High Resale Value" Recall prone Senior Citizen's vehicle
Forester = AWD, Adrenaline Induced "Hearse", "Low Resale Value" whatever whatcha ma call it wagon.
There ya go! Happy? I think they're equal now
No pun intended :evillaugh

this is turning out to be a pissing contest.
IMO, there is no clear cut winner here. each vehicle has its strengths and weaknesses, and obviously, both have very loyal owners.![]()

Have you owned both? I do.
all talk, all test drives, buy both. you'll see.
So you own a 2007 Forester as well?
The GM-sold Forester (which you posted that you had) had an anemic 2.0L (125hp anyone?) engine while the new Forester (thank you Motor Image Pilipinas, good riddance GM) already has a new engine (its 2.0L pumps out 158 horses while the XT has 230 thoroughbred horses).
Btw, have you driven a Forester XT lately?
I owned both a subaru forester 2.0 and a crv 2.0. 2003 model.
Let me tell you having driven them both almost daily, Performance
difference is very negligible.
in fact I loved the crv better, because of seating space
and higher driving view.
* Filipinos who buy CRV over subaru do so not because of its
badge. But it's more practical. After all most people dont off road
race to work everyday.![]()
Subaru is superior yes! technically.
But
CRV has more Satisfied customers. Let the sales numbers speak.
WORLDWIDE.
Subaru has never exceeded Honda in sales terms. Locally or internationally.
Even on similarly priced units ? hmmm.
There must be something wrong with Subaru.
Stop convincing yourselves that Subaru is better. Buy it for a a change.
Help Subaru sell more or it might go the way of the dodo.
Buy more Subaru's...![]()
Sorry i don't need to test drive both because i already own a MY06 FXT Limited and my GrandMa owns an MY04 CRV EX "4WD"
Nope! Don't worry we won't buy a recall prone, overrated, & overpriced Senior Citizen's RVStop convincing yourselves that Subaru is better. Buy it for a a change.
Help Subaru sell more or it might go the way of the dodo.
Buy more Subaru's
Worldwide? Wow! Have you "seen" the owner blogs lately about the CRV's never ending recalls? I bet those owners are VERY satisfied. How come Honda is NOT in the Big 3 if they are making "good numbers"?CRV has more Satisfied customers. Let the sales numbers speak.
WORLDWIDE
Wait.. i thought we were talking about CRV vs. Forester but somehow it segued to Honda Vs. Subaru? Hmmm... We should change the thread title thenSubaru has never exceeded Honda in sales terms. Locally or internationally.

Still N0 pun intended![]()

if honda sells 100 units and gets 5 recalled units
and subaru sells 5 units and gets 1 recalled unit.
people assume honda has more recalled units.
5 is more than 1.
then they start preaching
"honda sucks because it has more recalled units.
subaru's great coz it has fewer recalled units."
But still more grandmas are buying crv's.![]()
sales numbers still do the talking!!!
FYI.
Big 3 Japan CAR Makers.
Toyota Motors
Honda Motors
Nissan Motors
* let google show the way *
Even if we narrowed sales statistics
to CRV and Forrester sales WORLDWIDE...
Never mind..Subaru might faint.
The CR-V was recalled 13 times since 1998. The Forester was recalled 6 times over the same period. How many units were recalled in total is not as important as the number of times each one was.
BTW, both the CR-V and Forester are included in Consumer Reports' latest 5 most reliable SUVs list
Here's a question:
If Honda sells 100 CR-Vs and 90 owners are happy with it while Subaru sells 30 Foresters and 29 owners are happy, which is the better SUV?
Answer: Depends on what you want in a car.
As the gasgas saying goes, it boils down to user preference. If your priority is speed and performance with a little practicality mixed in, get the Forester. If you prefer newer "styling", a better interior, resale value get the CR-V.
I had the same choice as the threadstarter and I went for the FXT. No regrets since. I'd love to have the CR-V in my garage if i could afford another SUV. Maybe in a year or two.![]()
100 versus 5 units? That's wishful thinking.
FYI, as of year end 2005 the worldwide sales of those models are as follows:
Honda CR-V, 2.5 million, 2 plants in Japan & UK
Subaru Forester, 1 million, 1 plant in Japan
It is only here and in some markets that your 100 to 5 scenario is applicable.
Not bad for someone's who isn't in the so-called Top 3. :uptight:
WOW!!from wikipedia"Introduced in Japan in 1996, the CR-V was Honda's first in-house designed SUV and was originally intended only to be a niche vehicle. Honda was hesitant to market the vehicle since many felt the car did not have potential to sell alongside the Honda Passport and to take over the role of Honda's entry-level SUV. In the United States, it was displayed for the first time at the 1996 Chicago Auto Show. Citing strong sales from the comparable Toyota RAV4 upon its release, the model was then brought stateside in February 1997. Shortly afterwards, CR-V sales outpaced those of the smaller RAV4, and the compact SUV has maintained strong sales and gained accolades ever since."******************************************* **************Please read this report is from Subaru.http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/news/pr..._14e.pdfsubaru sold only 599T units (all models) in 2004and projected production only at 600T units for all models in 2005.How were they able to sell 1 million forresters? in 2005 ?where did it come from? old stock?enlighten me please.
Who's fainting? I think the "H" Salesman over here is fainting right about now :bwahaha:sales numbers still do the talking!!!
You might be right grandmas still buy the CRV but well i guess who's the "H"earse mobile now?But still more grandmas are buying crv's
Since you said WORLDWIDE i understood that it's GLOBAL car manufacturers right?
Here's the REAL Big 3 "Not ONLY in JAPAN"
General Motors
Toyota Motor Company
Ford Motor Company
Oh wait? Where's the great "H" emblem there? :sailor:
Recall notices show and they're not assuming, They're COMPLAINING.people assume honda has more recalled units
then they start preaching
Yep! what you said. It never came from us though hahaha! Still manufacturer defects show their vulnerability to recalls "honda sucks because it has more recalled units.
subaru's great coz it has fewer recalled units."
