To answer your question, for my first car shopping, I am prioritizing ride comfort more than practicality. Siguro gusto ko lang maka experience ng sedan since puro SUV and pick up ang nadrive ko. I just want to stay away from the matagtag and bulky feeling. Since more on city driving lang naman, I think sedan is a good choice. Best in comfort and also less gas consumption compared to CUV/SUV.
If I wanted more practicality than comfort, I am actually considering the HR-V that will be released here in the Philippines on April 19 priced at 1.3m for the base variant with lots of features too. I think the base HR-V is better priced compared to the barebone base Corolla Cross.

Ride comfort of my CRV is far better than my Civic that it replaced. The Civic looks nicer yes pero in the eyes of 99% of people, mas mukhang mahal yung CRV (they cost the same in the secondhand market). The Civic also has better handling but you can only really maximize it on the track. In any public road, crossovers can keep up and even go faster than sedans because you don’t have to worry about road imperfections.

In any case, looks like you’re decided with a sedan anyway, so go spend your 1.3M on that Altis or whatever your heart tells you
