May 23rd, 2025 08:34 AM #31Not surprised. EVs are really nice to drive, especially compared to a pickup-based turbodiesel.
First thing you notice is that it's super quiet and there's no vibration at all because there's no engine shaking and clattering.
Then when you step on the accelerator the response is instant. It's a very different feeling that stepping on the accelerator instantly creates acceleration, especially coming from a turbodiesel which can feel like puling a toy car with a rubber band -- you start pulling, then the band stretches, and finally the toy car starts moving.

bigla kong naalala yung isa ko pang concern/question with BYD...
which vehicles are sharing platforms?
sa Japanese cars, we know that the Yaris Cross is sharing the same platform with the other models. In some cases, some parts are even interchangeable.
sa BYD kaya, which cars are using the same platforms and parts???

Nahirapan siyang i claim sa insurance dun sa battery na part.
Not sure why, nakalimotan ko explaination si Autorandz dito kaya dinala sa kanila yung auto.

May 23rd, 2025 03:08 PM #35true, resale value Toyota is king in the phil.
EV and Hybrids arn't good for resale value especially china made cars.
But cars are depreciating Value except maybe a land cruiser.
That seem to be the choice of new car buyers.
A brand new full loaded cfhina car but lose value over time
or a brand new bare bones Toyota but keep some of its value in the long run.

Getting a toyota would be ideal mostly for those looking for practicality or one who will use it primarily as a workhorse vehicle. At least for the high-sellers of the nameplate.
But if something different is part of the equation like being fun or thrill to drive, as well as things like comfort, refinement and technology, then it's simply better to look elsewhere.
Tsaka kung brand new yung car, may warranty naman for those with doubts.
Ah kaya naman pala. Very unfortunate.

May 24th, 2025 10:28 AM #39looked for the video.
it would seem, according to the video, the car in question was purchased by this atelier's costumer, from a bayan seller who in turn sourced it from an insurance company that had, apparently (i assume), acquired it in a total loss transaction.
why a total loss, it did not say...

My friend discussed the same conundrum with me. These are probably the two most popular hybrid SUVS at around 1.5m. One is objectively a better value with a larger size, more features, better NVH, better performance, plug-in charging ability and so on. However one is a simpler Toyota with better perceived reliability. He's actually leaning towards the Toyota because he lives in a condo and cant charge (Yaris HEV is more efficient if never charged compared to the SL6 and paying 35/KWh negates the value proposition) and the smaller size is more convenient. The Corolla Cross base model is in the same price range but is too bare.
