    Hi Tsikot Members,

I’m Yaro, and this is the new official Tsikot account to share updates and start conversations with the community. As we gear up to relaunch Tsikot, I’ll be reaching out regularly to get your advice and input - you’re the heart of this platform, and your feedback is invaluable.

To kick things off, I have a simple question: Where do you currently buy and sell used cars, and what challenges do you face with the services you use?

I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences as we work together to make Tsikot even better!

    Cheers,
    Yaro

There are known buy-n-sell or used car dealer networks like ugarte cars manila and kotse network but units are a bit more expensive in them. So much better to buy from private owners, esp. if they owned the car first hand.

Most direct owner-sellers are usually in Facebook ... Carousell filled with used car salesman now ... would be a good idea to have a platform for direct used car sellers and separate one for buy and sell salesmen ... have a platform for pre-purchase car inspection service ... and have a decent rating system ...

    +1.
I hate middleman sellers in FB.
A rating system would be great.
I miss those days when I buy/sell in forum sites wherein I can see the interested buyers and their public convo of the transaction. I can see some comments why the buyers backed-out and sharing the condition of the item during checking.
These information are completely inaccessible in FB.
Although the advantage of FB is that some buyers/sellers profile are legit and their profile pic match their identities.

Maybe a Lazada/Shopee app for cars?

[QUOTE=TheNewTsikot;3382254]Hi Tsikot Members, Hi Yaro, thanks for the update — it’s great to see Tsikot being relaunched! I’ve been buying and selling used cars through platforms like Facebook Marketplace and sometimes OLX in the past, but to be honest, the experience isn’t always smooth.

One of the biggest challenges is the lack of trust. Many listings don’t have enough details or clear photos, and you often have to deal with people who aren’t serious or who don’t respond at all. There’s also the issue of scams — fake listings, tampered mileage, or vehicles with hidden issues. It makes the whole process stressful, especially for someone who isn’t a car expert.

I think there’s a big opportunity for Tsikot to become a more reliable, community-driven platform where users feel safe and confident buying or selling cars. If there were verified sellers, inspection services, or even a way to see car history, that would be a game changer.

Looking forward to seeing what’s in store and happy to share more ideas to help make Tsikot better for everyone!

If you have a trusted mechanic you can bring along, that would be ideal.

If not, as ice15 mentioned, do your research to find out what are the common issues of a particular make and model. This way you'll know what to watch out for.

If you're going to be meticulous about it, it's going to be a very long list.

You've got to check for oil leaks, kalampags, blowby, water marks where there shouldn't be, alon on the paint, misaligned fenders, smooth shifting, interiors, etc. And that's just the superficial stuff.

it would take a good load of checking, and even then, things could always still remain honestly undetected, from both sides, until it is too late.
but one thing i always am wary of... "the stolen car". everything else can be fixed.
nice to deal with actual owner-seller himself. they tend to be more forthcoming.

How do you make sure it's got no legal issues nor alarm Pala doc? You visit the hpg and inquire about the car? Or the lto? Or both?
