i've seen the 94-96 accords, galants, corona's and 626's in 2nd hand units ads. why have their resale values took a dive? heck a 2nd hand civic and rolla sells higher than these beauties. i know they have gas guzzling characteristics because of their 2.0li engines and some V6 engines. but is that the only reason? or meron pa ibang weakness tong classics na'to? And among those mentioned above, alin sa kanila pinaka ok? i heard from a friend then, that for overall performance, that mazda's 626 is underrated but very competent, especially when it comes to riding comfort. 2nd is the corona, then the accord, last was the galant. what do you think guys? which is best talaga from this group? thanks

    Demand is low.

And yes, the gas consumption is a factor.

The 626, like the 323 at the time, had "soft" suspension. It did feel comfortable. (I was only able to drive a 626 for two days, couldn't comment much on it.)

The Corona is ok overall, you may have some lose plastic items like aircon vents here and there, but a well maintained one should still be good for a few more years. It feels lighter than the Galant. You can feel it just by closing the doors. My gripe about it is the apparent height of the trunk. Euro Look makes it more pleasing to the eyes. I never did like the stock headlamps.

The Galant's suspension components should have been fixed by the current owner by now. So ok na yung reklamo about creaks and squeaks. Feels heavy but stable at speed. I liked the look first time it came out. Check out ssaloon's car thread. That's one of the best examples I've seen.

Have never driven a 94-96 Accord. Sorry.

i had a 626 before. i say the suspension is compliant not soft. actually the suspension was where the Mazda MX6 sportscar (as well as Ford Probe GT 93up) suspension was patterned. it glides on bumps mostly heard but hardly felt.

it handles so great... turns in predictably and only mildly understeers on fast turns. the car is so sportscar derrived that the stock ride height seemed low... dashboard is low also....and the overall interior ambiance is kinda intimate but spacious and comfortable. well its kinda ironic but i hope you get what i mean. it feels so intimate because the controls are quite small, just adequate in size...dash is low, even the door handles and sidings seem like it's from a sportcar...but spacious coz the seats are big and embracing....

bttt, i guess midsize cars from this era currently suffer resale coz of the factors of gasoline consumption, parts prices and availability, their age too.
and fact that mostly their function can also be performed but the equally capable but cheaper to run Civics, Sentras and Corollas further hastens the situation.

I still have my corona exsior with me. Was planning to sell it a few months ago but yes the resale value is far too low for the current value and service it provides me. Made a thread about it nga "to sell or not to sell corona exsior" and received very positive comments about this car. So gamitin ko nalang sayang eh.

yes, if you can maintain it. it can serve its purpose pretty well with panache not available with the compacts. IMO iba pa rin kapag naka mid size car ka!

aside from those previously mentioned. those are already 10 year old cars. older cars means more moolah for maintenance.

this goes inside the low demand reason...for practicality's sake, instead of getting a big 10 year old car, people now are settling for a smaller newer car. coupled with some promos from dealers, even owning a brand new car now is easy.

94-96 Midsize Cars, Why Low Resale Values?
