I never said LL is
pirated nor a
fake. I said it's a product
rebrand because it seeks to differentiate itself from others when... it isn't. You're simply slapping a label over it. There's no brand identity.. hell.. if bored and given enough time kaya ko hanapin yun supplier and order the exact same speaker with everything else (TS parameters, etc.) within standard deviation.
Tell me what
brand engineering means.
What did Lightning Lab contribute to the speaker world that merits it the word engineering? UK's Bower and Wilkins have their fixed surround suspension (FST) as a contribution, Focal has their glass-layered sandwiches that they use at every product line they have, McIntosh Labs has made advancements in power clipping technology. These advancements differentiate themselves from everybody else in the market. If let's say somebody uses the exact same material, construction, and everything else on these products. Do you think it's called a rebrand? Nope. It's now called a
copy.
Everybody who knows speaker construction 101 can create a speaker.. but that isn't engineering.
It's very easy to find schematics on the internet. Good speaker design schematic? Check. Good amplifier design schematic? Check.
Let's check out a more
upscale rebrand known in EMMA Philippine circles. Look at JC Audio's
Sonus line of amplifiers. I highly recommend its Sonus Enigma lineup at the 16,000php price range. It looks good (very good in fact), measures well, sounds good, and has a good amount of power for its price. But how they do it is actually pretty easy -- you get a manufacturer in China.. they'll send you a list of parts you want to include in your amplifier, you say you want X, Y, Z... they make your amplifier on what you want and on your X amount of orders then ship it here. The distributor then resells it to resellers and finally to consumers. See their Europhia lineup at 45,000php? Now go search Facebook for Thailand's Harmotech amplifiers -- you'd be surprised at the similarities.
For the more enterprising ones out there. Want a speaker manufacturer from China? Easy. Simply go to Alibaba. A small company such as this one:
Guangzhou Soundsing Audio Manufacturing Co., Ltd. - Horn,Diaphragm would happily cater to anybody who wants to make speakers. Just remember to send them your logo so you can have your own brand identity once it arrives on our shores.
It all boils down to
brand identity.
