    2. New 2 way separates (thinking of the Focal P165FX)
    3. An under-seat active sub

That is the plan as discussed with Mickey but then I found this hardly-used Steg 120.2 Q-mos amp at home from a failed installation about 12 years ago (that's another story). Now I'm wondering if it will do any good to use this amp for the Carnival setup or just save it for another car another day. What do you guys think? Should I use the Steg to power the fronts? Diba overkill ang 120-wpc RMS?

Note: I'm not open to the idea of a passive subwoofer (heavy and lethal in case of a collision) which is why I'll settle for a small active sub. Thanks in advance.
For me hindi naman overkill yung Steg amp. But since you already have an amplifier, better to use it nalang.

If I were a Carnival or a van owner, i would also opt to change the rear speakers then power it using a 4 channel amplifier. I guess this depends sa owner ng vehicle kung ano gusto ma-achieve na sound. Experts may chime in.

Thanks for the advise. Will consider the 4-channel amp / 4 speaker setup. I'm sure the tuning guys will prefer not to use the rear speakers though. Mahirap yata i-tune?

if ayaw mo ng rear speakers, pwede mo gamitin yung 2 channel pa for an underseat sub. Im using pioneer premier 8" shallow sub, never tried an active underseat sub so hindi ko masabi if mas ok yung tulad ng akin porket may box sya na mas malaki.

Or why dont u try yung custom box talaga for 10inch subs? Yung hindi pinapatong lang, yung nakakabit na talaga sa car mo yung box haha.

Thanks for pointing out the existence of these shallow passive subs. Prior that I thought all under seat subs were active. Will consider this especially since ang box requirement niya is only 0.15 to .5 sqf.

Question lang po, ano advantage ng passive sub like the one you have in your Navarra to something like this:

    Pioneer TSW-X12A Powered Subwoofer | Mickey's Autosound

Mas effective or madali ba ang tuning if one were using a passive sub?

If i may chime in, easier to tune ang passive sub than active sub. Since active sub still has "limitations" compared to passive.

For me also, mas fuller ang sound produced by passive..

Thanks Sleepcare! The good thing is I'm spoiled for choices. Lets see what happens with this install.

Please update us with the install. Will look forward for it. Since i'm in the market for Carnival/Odyssey and thinking of audio set-up for it before purchasing.

well sabi nga ni sleepcare and jhnkvn, mas magiging flexible raw sa pag tune ang passive for a cheaper price. And same lang naman daw sila ng output. Bigay lang kasi tong sub na to, my friend bought this 9 yrs ago for 6.7k, tas 2.5k for the box. Sa mickeys nya to binili. May mas mura pa atang version yung pioneer na shallow, yung hindi premier ata hehe di ko sure how much.

are Flashbands and alternatives effective in deadening the doors? i sound like a cheapskate as i am one

any ideas on how much does it cost? also baka may iba pang "generic" siya na pangalan that would help when asking the salesman at the hardware shop

So Mickey's team installed the following on the Carnival:

    Pioneer AVH-8850BT
    Focal ES165K2
    Steg 120.2 Q-mos amp
Focal BP20 powered sub (so much for an under seat sub, the presence of under seat rear A/C vents deterred this plan)

Happy with the fact that no stock wire was spliced, that the reverse cam and steering controls all worked afterwards (tricky that last one), and that the install was so neat - except for the Focal Bomba sub box in the back, everything looked stock.

The SQ? I think the lively characteristic of Focals is perfect for a car environment. Details rise above the road noise. I love the highs actually - pinpoint and sparkly. Mickey tuned the setup and tonal balance and time alignment is perfect at the driver's seat.

A bit over-budget but I'm happy to pay for quality stuff, work and results. Thanks to all the tsikot forum advisers.

They're not effective for their cost.

As a previous thread: flashband users feedback

Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it'll work well. I go write a 3 paragraph long explanation on why but many people won't like me delving into physics of mass and resonance.

Hindi naman sa mahirap i-tune.. If you upgraded to 4 speaker/4 channel set-up, masisira na imaging since i'm sure you'll be getting a coax speakers. Yan ang sasabihin ng tuning guys. For me kasi I also like to have "better" sounds for the rear for my passengers since this is a van and they will be more than happy na maganda din yung sounds na naririnig nila.

If i was using other types of vehicle, i'll be ok sa 2 channel+active subs.
