Meron pala silang official store sa Laz. I chatted with the rep inquiring about the unit and they offered to upload the unit to their store. Dun na ako nag-order. Free shipping and no customs fees.

Madali lang din install. Literal plug and play.

So far so good naman. May hiccups lang sa performance like ang hirap pindutin ng screen sa Android Auto and connectivity. Pero sound quality is a lot better than the Harman that came with the car originally.

Launching apps no problem though I just leave it on Android Auto the whole trip. Wireless Carplay and Android Auto na rin. Mas mabilis pa wireless kesa wired connection.

Android Auto mabagal ang pagregister ng touch minsan and maliit ang fonts so kung Waze I use the keyboard on my phone most of the time.

Tried YouTube a few times and mabilis naman response.

According to CPU-Z 6-core (not the advertised 8) with 4gb ram and 64gb rom ang unit ko. 14k ko nakuha very similar to the price from their own store pero free shipping and handling na.

I bought the 7-inch 4GB/64GB Seicane HU last Nov. 30 sa Lazada, and it was delivered the following day. 3.8k ang price but with vouchers naging 3.4k lang hehe. walang pre-installed Android Auto app kaya contact ko yung support and I was advised to upgrade the software. after that lumabas na AA, yun lang wired lang yata. nde ko pa gaano nakalikot kung pwede wireless AA. pero overall, good upgrade ito from my previous lenovo HU, night and day ang difference sa performance.

    thanks sa recommendation, JohnM!

Great! Nakakatuwa lang na bilis magreply ng support nila and they really try to help. Hopefully wireless AA na rin sa yo.

Wireless AA is triggered by a Bluetooth connection to CAR-KIT. Via wifi na ang communication between the HU and phone after the handshake.

    Warning: long post ahead about a generic China Android Head Unit;
TLDR: Those of you who bought generic Android head units that need upgrades or help in setting up might want to continue reading.

On a drunken whim, I had bought a "Kenwood" (yeah right) 7 inch android unit which was advertised as having 8GB of RAM and 64GB ROM on Shopee for ₱3,260 (free shipping and comes with a reverse cam). When I had it installed I immediately saw that the interface was slower than I expected and, upon checking, it only had 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM (probably has a slow AF SSD too). I used the app Fake Device Test to do the check as CPU-Z would not run on it. The worst part was it did NOT have Android Auto either. *facepalm*.

It's your usual China XY android head unit (model 9272B) with a quadcore Cortex A7 from ages ago (the newer HU's are on octa-cores). It was hacked to run Android 12. Screen is 1024x600 resolution.

All XY units look like the image below.

As soon as I checked again on Shopee, I saw the seller had been banned. No more chance of getting a refund, unfortunately, so I had to make do with what I had. Name of seller, btw, is BCS Automotive.

First urgent step was I had to figure out what the factory settings code was (it needed a pin code to get to the settings, which was "8888", others may want to try 0000 or 1234). I then did some changes on how the apps behaved in addition to looking at all the possible settings and specs I could find (menu was in english, thankfully).

I tried to find updated firmware but was unsuccessful. I did find a site which may be useful to some of you here who have XY units. Unfortunately, the model number of my unit wasn't on the list. I also tried Zlink/Tlink but that wouldn't work properly, either, so there was no way to use my phone to connect to the HU. My quest for Android Auto continued.

I read a slashgear article which I thought might be helpful then proceeded to install Head Unit Reloaded Emulator and manually installed the latest Android Auto apk (chose the 32bit binary as I had a slowish system). After installing another app (Wifi Launcher) and fiddling with more settings, I'm happy to say that Android Auto finally works, and is quite smooth too, both on wifi and USB.

This was a couple of days ago and everything seems to be running smoothly so far. When not on Android Auto: I use these apps:

    • OSMand as my default offline navigator, with all the maps of all the regions on Luzon Island saved
    • Youtube works
    • Waze starts slowly but does work eventually
    • GoogleMaps works but is slow
    • Disney+ works
    • Spotify works but I prefer to download a playlist rather than just streaming it
    • My FLAC files play natively on the built in media player, which is great
    • For movies, try to use 720p rips instead of the 1080p or 4k kind (I use MX player with hardware acceleration turned on)

    Caveats:
    • Android Auto audio quality on Spotify is not as good as playing Spotify on the head unit
    • Android Auto audio quality on calls is better than on the head unit
    • Netflix is still a problem since the app is looking for Play Protect. I will probably need to look for the service modules in android and install it manually, I'm just worried some of the built-in apps might start to croak if I do install Play Protect.
    • Btw, most apps on the playstore were compiled via arm64-v8a. Users with older processors like mine will be better off looking for the armeabi-v7a variety on sites like APKmirror.com

I was bummed to not get what I needed but I did learn quite a lot in the journey. Posting my experience here in case somebody in the forum may need help getting their Android head units to work better.

Ikaw lang nag install or pina install mo? Di kasi ako confident mag splicing kaya preferred ko na ipa install na lang within south area or Manila. So far ung mga natanungan ko, di napayag mag install pag sinabi kong may dala akong headunit.

If yes, maganda at pulido naman ba sila gumawa and mapapagana steering wheel controls and stock reverse camera? Mas sulit kasi bumili and ipakabit na lang.

Wow good to hear na kaya ng 8/128 ang games na yan. Plug and play lang ba or need splicing para sa steering wheel and stock reverse camera?

Thanks.
