Ok, I'll do the roof first. Also gives me another reason to remove the roof rack which I've wanted to remove for so long :P. Yup, I wanted to get a DA but even the cheapest one on shopee was out of my budget so I've just been watching vids on YT about how to use a rotary properly. The car has never been waxed but do you think I should just use dish soap anyway to remove more contaminants? As in is dish soap more aggressive than car wash soap? Also few more questions,

    - When claying, can I use soapy water as a lubricant?
    - Can I use acid rain remover around emblems to remove the dirt? (Saw a vid on yt about it but idk if it could hurt the paint)
    - Can I use soapy water after buffing the polish to remove the excess polish on the paint or should I just wash it again after before applying crystal fx?
    - How do I know when the polish has been exhausted and I need to stop? Magiging sticky ba or something?

    Appreciate your answers

    - invest in a good orbital polisher and buffing pads, its your main tool. unless you do it by hand

    - as said earlier, dish soaps have degreasers and it can remove paint protection i.e. wax. but since magpolish ka naman so you can use it.

    - you can use car shampoo + water as clay lube. just ensure the mix have enough lubricity to effortlessly slide the clay

    - you can use acid rain remover but wash it down rightvaway else baka mamuti emblems. better still, use the bug & tar remover you have. it can remove stubborn dirts around emblems. need elbow grease though

    - wash and dry after polishing then apply your last step product

    - the polish will dry like dust. you must have a water spray bottle to always wet your buffing pads.

and to add, you need a lot of buffing pads and detailing towels

Didn't think of using the tar remover for emblems, thank you, I'll definitely do that. As for the polisher, I just bought the cheap one since I'll probably only use it once or twice every few years since I don't think polishing should be done every year to save the clear coat. And anyway, I think I have a decent enough washing technique to not induce scratches haha. Also, I'm a student so I definitely cannot justify spending over 1k on a tool I'll barely use. I already have a lot of towels that I built up slowly over the past year or so so that should not be a problem. For the pads, is it ok to just use one pad and then clean it out after every panel? Like by using a stiff brush or washing/rinsing it?

    Answers appreciated, thank you!

try mo lang yung bug & tar. i used it before and it works, need lang extra elbow grease.

i dont know what polisher and pad(s) you have but what i have are pads for specific purpose like cutting, polishing and finishing. and it matches the polishing compounds too

Safe ba sa emblems yung bug and tar na made from HCl? Yun kasi yung kinuha ko. For my polishing set up, here's what I have if it's worth anything (shopee links included)

    - Mitsushi rotary polisher 650W - https://shopee.ph/-BUY-1-GET-5-Mitsu...962.2614343799
    - Set of 5" pads (planning to use the green pad) - https://shopee.ph/11-8-5PCS-Buffing-...456.7983390942
    - Microtex supraone - https://shopee.ph/Microtex-MTX-Supra...81.22651449473

Don't know if you have experience using those but anyway that's what I have. As much as I wanted to get better equipment, I only allot half of my weekly allowance for spending, the other half goes straight to my savings account, and when subtracting my transportation expense, I'm left with only ~300 or less so I unfortunately can't get really nice stuff for now.

you apply lang sa mga outlines at crevices ng emblem na may nanigas na dumi...

ok na yan, make use of what you have. glad that you have the urge to do paint correction sa car niyo. bihira yung kaedad mo na may hilig maglinis ng car.

if you have time, read the first 10 or 20 pages of this Tamang OC thread. marami ka matutunan sa proper washing hanggang sa waxing post ni sir scharnhorst

    I'll do that, thank you.

Dad takes care of the running costs and PMS so I take care of the interior and exterior haha. He always tells me to just leave the exterior as it is and just keep the interior clean (and of course take care of the engine but he's the one taking care of that) because that's where we sit but I tell him, why not both? So I just do the interior first then exterior the week after and just alternate between them.

I'll definitely read the first few pages, actually already started reading last night haha.

Also, is it possible to upload pictures here without needing mod approval? Would like to share the before and after of my paint correction after I do it when we get back from holiday. Also planning to do a wheels off detail of the wheels if I'm free next week since I have the iron decon and bug and tar remover now.

    yes, you can post pics.

btw for the engine bay, the easy way to clean it, you can use the cheapest foam cleaner you can find. marami sa shopee (kulay yellow na can). you can just spray the foam sa engine bay then let it linger for few secs then wipe with a microfiber towel or any basahan na lint free. no need to apply rubber or plastic dressing, dagdag gastos lang.

you can use also sa tire/rims, interior, dashbrd, seats, trims, even your kusina stove top na oily, its effective.

Got it, though yung ginawa ko sa old lancer namin before, I just used soapy water and a rag and brush haha. Effective naman and plus I didn't need to buy anything. I'll attach the picture from my archive below. For our montero, I'm planning to do the engine last. For the interior naman, I'm using microtex quickleen followed by sunshield for the dash and plastics and armorall leather care for the leather seat covers. I might try the microtex leather restorer when the armorall runs out.

Hey all, quick update on my first paint correction. Still haven't tried the buffing machine but I just finished doing the door handles and mirrors. Decided to do it now since I had nothing to do and since I wouldn't have been able to use the machine on it anyway. Learned a lot even just hand polishing and claying and I really enjoyed it. Super satisfying too and I could not believe my eyes when I saw the difference. There still are a few scratches but they are really shallow and it's much better than when I started. You can only see it with a light so I'm really pleased with the result. Can't wait to finally do the whole car after our holiday. Before and after below.

Recently bought a black car and can't help but noticed dust keep on accumulating in the vehicle and I have to wipe it everyday or every other day. Would a ceramic coating be of good help? so that I will not have to wipe the dust everyday or a PPF + ceramic coating? pros and cons? Thank you.

    in my opinion,

    black cars attract white dust,
just as white cars will attract dark/black dust, albeit will probably be less visible.

    my feeling is,
the coating will make it easier to dust off,
but it will not make the dust slide off spontaneously.

another advantage of "coatings", is that paint spatters may be easier to remove.

common na yan sa black car, dumihin o madaling makita ang alikabok. sabi nga na kung gusto mo na hindi dumihin, get a gray colored car. i doubt if ceramic coating will help, it might in preventing swirl marks sa frequent dusting but not to prevent the dust in clinging sa paint surface. kung gusto mo talaga ma-lessened ang dust, have an enclosed parking.

    yespo.
four of our five cars, are silver. i can get away with dusting only the glass... the nylon duster i am using, does a better job than the usual natural product dusters.
i got the bronze car, despite the color, because the price, provenance, and plate number, were right.

Regular soft/liquid/spray wax na hand buffed lang. Tapos feather duster na light para iwas swirl.
